California SB18 Conversation

So, this law is the California Children's Bill of Rights. I have mentioned it here once before and I'm sure it will be signed. Yesterday I had a conversation with an aide at my Assembly member's office. I volunteered nothing at first and what came out of this guy's mouth had me literally shaking after the conversation. He said the government should play a role in the raising of children for the betterment of society. He called this a "mommy law". I had him repeat that a few times to make sure I was hearing correctly. At the Capitol they are calling these laws "mommy laws" as they are intended to play the role of real parenting. He volunteered that the author drafted the law in order to make sure that every child gets forced vaccination, including those who escaped his last law (those with medical issues and homeschoolers). I know that many fixate on the vaccination facet, but in my opinion this is much bigger than that.

I let him go on for a while. Then, I informed him that I was asked by a few families I know to reach out to their office. I said, "It's important for (Assembly member's name) to know that this group of families will leave California if this bill passes." He literally gasped in shock when I said this. We are, though. I'm going to sell my business, I've decided.

I have had several friends leave here for Texas. I have mixed feelings on Texas. I envision it as a place that's rife with Fox News NeoCons. I thought Rick Perry was a dolt. For me, there's more importance put on living in an area where families are left alone, if that makes any sense. Perry was famous for his forced application of the Gardasil vaccine, for example, and the people didn't seem to fight back. Eh... However, my buddy who lives in Austin loves it. And, another who is a homebuilder in the Dallas area is really having a good time. An architect I work with is looking at the Houston area as he is a yachtsman. I haven't ruled it out entirely. Just saw some stuff that gave me pause. To each his own...

My question is "Why have you been in the land of the fruits and nuts so long?" In my own case it is inertia - family, friends, etc., even though we are retired and could get out of this hell hole called Illinois, we just don't get up the steam to do it.

Be sure to sell all your California overpriced real estate before you go. Ultimately when all that's left in California are rich entertainers, sports celebrities, the electronics and defense industries, marijuana, and politicians supporting 30 million poor illegal Mexicans, the state will crash. It's on its way already. Hopefully, our federal government will not be so stupid as to bail them out or there will be other coastal socialist utopias to follow.

That is often how bills get enforced in this state. The useful idiots are told the bills has passed and they need to help enforce it - period. They'll start enforcing this bill long before it even takes effect. Once it's signed there will be little examples of this popping up almost immediately. Why not? If the people really don't give a damn why not start hunting season early?

A lady in my life many years ago worked for a startup medical database company in Folsom, right up the road. She helped the two founders set the company up. When they went public during the tech boom both founders were worth hundreds of millions (at least) overnight. She told me their accountant drove them to Stateline in south Tahoe and said, "Don't come back across that line"...haha...

They don't really care about those kids. They know the uneducated will line their kids up for anything. It's those pesky educated, well-to-do families that are in their sights with this.

California could not possibly count all the illegals living and working in the state and refuses to even try. How many of them came here fully vaccinated?
If you don't have the slightest clue who is there then tell me how you could possibly enforce such ridiculous laws. Your idiots just like mine here in NY are all trying to make themselves appear intelligent and failing miserably.

There is no better example of how much people will pay to get out of California and how effective the legislature has been at chasing out people that actually "pay" taxes.

It is a tough decision. I have been looking at moving to Texas for a number of years now. The problem is that while Texas is definitely better than Calif, it is 'not enough better' (yet) to merit the dislocation of a move. For example, Texas would not have been able to 'protect' me/us (the company) from Obamacare regs.
I am curious about where people chose to go because it informs me of a potential choice as well.

Even in CA, the center is 'red' - not enough to offset the coastal population centers but still a lot of silent people who have been bullied into thinking that they are hicks and therefor not worthy of having opinions. One of the things I am looking for is for this element of the population to 'start talking'. It is possible that a collateral benefit of Trump's upcoming presidency will be that, even in Calif, the 'cool liberal kids' will now find people disagreeing with them. I am hoping that this might bring about a change in the political atmosphere.

If Trump can protect all of the US from the EPA and Obamacare, and enforce the 2nd amendment, that will give all states a bit of a breather.

Nevada side of the border real estate in Lake Tahoe is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than the California side. It's kind of funny, cross the road and save $1.5 million in many cases.

I'm right behind you, I've lived in Granite Bay since 2004, waiting for a key event in about the next 7 years to extricate myself from business. We're retiring to Idaho, already looking for property there. You can't reason with crazy and you can't fix stupid.

Come on to Texas. It's not perfect here by a long shot but it is FAR BETTER than California. I moved here back in 07 from Florida and am very happy here. Since you like the Desert consider Lubbock or El Paso.

The people of this country have what they desire. Unfortunately for those who would be slaves and slave masters they will not leave those who do not want to be slaves free. They will use the violence authorized by the state to accomplish any goal they desire and if it means the death and torture of millions they will not be dissuaded.

Good for you. California is a beautiful state to look at, but is a terrible place to actually live. I left there in 1991 to move to Las Vegas. Now Las Vegas has been infected with the socialism virus too. I am looking at leaving here soon too.
