    My understanding is if a person is physically born in the USA, then citizen by birth is conferred. Kamala Harris and Vivek Ramaswamy were both physically born in the USA. There is a very strong argument Barack Obama was born in Kenya and does not have citizenship conferred.

      or do you think the Founders wanted someone with divided loyalties as POTUS?

        I do get a bit confused over this. Then what is the big hoopla over anchor babies - born in the USA with a USA birth certificate? Are they citizens or not? A child born to American citizens overseas is considered American as well. I've seen lots of opinions on this, but what is the definitive answer?

          A child is born a US citizen if born in the US or certain territories. A child is also born a US citizen if one of his parents is one. He only needs to qualify in one of these ways to be a citizen. (It is still an open question whether this is sufficient to be a "native born citizen" in the meaning of Article II. Some say you have to be born in the US.)

          As for Obama, he created the controversy about himself by falsely applying to university as foreign-born in order to benefit from affirmative action. Then he clumsily tried to hide his lie by having his alma maters make his records private before he ran for president. Then he made it worse by posting an obviously faked * PDF of a Hawaiian birth certificate on the web. But his mother was certainly a US citizen, so his is one no matter where he was born.

    Unless Kenya is the 51st state, then Barry Obozo was not a native-born US citizen, and thus was not Constitutionally qualified to be President.

    Now someone named Vivek Shamwarmsy (an Indian who was born in the U.S). but his parents were not citizens...so he was not 'natural born' is running. He was not 'natural born'. Now don't tell me O'Bama wasn't because he was...his mother was an American citizen and we don't recognize her 'marriage' to a man who had three other wives. O'Bama was 'natural born' his mother just wasn't married to his father.. I am getting tired of people kicking over the Constitution! Kamala's parents were not citizens of this country when she was born! Not eligible to be President or V. P.,

      "Natural Born" was perverted by the Kim Wong Ark case just like most of the rest of our "naturalization" laws. It was common law all over the world when the Constitution was written that you inherited the same nationality as your parents and it didn't matter where you were born. You could be born with dual citizenship (Ted Cruz). But if you weren't born to at least one parent of that country you weren't considered a "natural born" citizen. Period. You could become a natural -ized citizen, meaning that you were an immigrant who had formally altered their nation of allegiance, but that's it.

      Under the standard definition of "natural-born" citizen, NO, Kamala wouldn't be eligible. Barack Obama would have been eligible if his true father (Frank Marshall Davis) had been acknowledged as the real father and if neither Obama nor his parents had done anything to jeopardize his nationality, like say enroll him in a school claiming he was Indonesian. Oops.

    Harris keeps pushing her African American heritage, which is all lies. Her mom is from India and her dad Jamacian! She is, besides "Michelle" Obama, the dumbest person on the planet, and they are condisering running either of them! Thye know nothing about much of anything, and that includes their cohort, AOC and Biden's Jill. The whole party has gone to the lowest IQ levely, with Joe being mere 117, and Obama was even lower.They think we do not know Obama's sexual background, from Hawaii to Chicago, like it never existed?

    There was the case of Mexico-born Republican George Romney running for President in the 60s.Since his parents were American, they didn't hold that against him.
    As for the candidates -I reiterate, there's gotta be something better than this!

    I believe anyone running for President, Vice President and Congress should have to pass a detailed test on our US Constitution before the can run for these positions.

        More qualified than anyone since Reagan, but not at all aligned with America's founding principles of reason, individualism, and capitalism. He's a pragmatist and a statist. In principle, America is anti-statist. Unqualified.

          I can't wait to hear who your choice might be! At 71 years old all I know for sure is the very best and most productive years in my life was under President DJT, all downhill for me, my family and our savings since. I welcome you to even try to prove me wrong, but I do suspect you have a stake in the rich/elite BS game or you are brain dead and fully programmed.

            All pathetic losers give credit and blame for their successes and failures to random people and events. Second, how can I prove you wrong about the years 2016 - 2020 being your best or most productive. Those are subjective measures, and I don't give a rat's ass. To be sure, the income tax reform was a huge achievement of the Trump administration, as were the deregulation efforts. Regardless, you do not disagree with my criticism that Trump is a pragmatist and a statist, yet you claim that I'm aligned with pragmatists and statists. In summary, the next four years may be your best ever if your cognitive skills improve to those of Joe Biden.

I don't love Trump but the policies he put forward for this, MY Country, sure as hell moved us forward and the policies that your Biden put in front of us moved us backwards. If you can't see that then get your eyes and your financial investments checked. You are barking at the moon here! I read your initial post about the "God of the Machine" and haven't read another since. How you arrived here and how you think is where I would put that car in full reverse. Don't bother with any response because I have nothing more to discuss with you or your ilk.
                  I just watched a host of "Pathetic losers" tonight in the republican debate, all meaningless garbage from them all but I fought for their right to be there puking all over the flag I salute.

                    In other words, you don't know anything. You accused me of sucking up to political elites and now you accuse me of supporting Biden. This only proves that you avoid reality and can't ccomprehend basic concepts. Everything you've said is a rationalization. For example, you reference the Gulch community. Do you know where that came from? Do you know what the original represents? Do you know what it takes to be invited? Do you know how it maintains itself? You asked me who I would choose to be president. I didn't answer because no one is truly qualified, including Trump. Do you know where the Declaration of Independence came from? Do you know what it represents? Do you know what independence requires? Do you know what America and the original Gulch have in common? If you'd like cogent answers to these questions, I take gold.
