Melissa Harris-Perry marginalizes hard work

According to Melissa Harris-Perry, an MSNBC host, we have to be "super careful" about the term "hard worker." Apparently we have a new term to add to the growing list of trigger warnings. What could be wrong with the term "hard worker," you might ask? It seems it could be deemed racist or demeaning to underprivileged members of society. You can see this rant here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKdtA...

There is so much that is disgusting about this rant that it is hard to know where to begin. It could be taken merely as an attempt to undercut the interviewee's (Alfonso Aguilar) praise of Paul Ryan, but it could cut deeper whether done intentionally or not. Is she trying to control others' thinking by controlling language?

Perhaps she is trying to undermine the value of hard work, itself. How are Objectivists - who hold the virtue of productiveness in high esteem - to view that?

How could one counter a comment like that if you came across it in a conversation with a liberal?

It's MSNBC, what can you expect? With Melissa, it has to be some kind of mental illness. If she were a computer, you would use an antivirus immediately and cure it. But with her, there is nothing that simple that can cure what comes out of her mouth. It must be torture to be her and live day by day with her thoughts.

I would posit that M H-P is NOT a hard worker. In fact M H-P is intellectually lazy! To modify a quote from Reardon, "Try to pour a ton of steel without rigid principles AND HARD WORK." So no M H-P, all work is not equal. Some work requires greater effort and sacrifice. And the results are commensurate with the degree of difficulty in the achievement. What is easy is to dismiss such effort. What is lazy is to try to marginalize the results with vacuous pronouncements.
AND, I would gladly say this to her face. Because, as opposed to our increasingly useless colleges and newsrooms, there are no safe spaces in the real world. Trigger words and micro aggressions only have power over those who give them power. I do not. If I offend M H-P with such speech, then indeed, that was my intention. And my right.

"How could one counter a comment like that if you came across it in a conversation with a liberal?"...Easy. First you roll your eyes, next , you call her a twit, then while walking away, you laugh very hard. Gets a liberal every time.

Yassir! To MH-P hard work is to be compared to dem ol' cotton fields back home, where you jump down, turn around and load a bale o' cotton. What a steaming pile of horse-pucky.
Hey, Melissa, voluntary hard work is not slavery. Once more, I delve into the morass of one reason why socialism doesn't work (abbreviated).
On an assembly line: Worker A assembles 20 widgets per hour. Worker B assembles 10 widgets per hour. They both get paid the same. Worker A realizes that his work goes unnoticed and his pay remains the same as Worker B. Worker A then coasts along at 10 widgets per hour. Now you understand why every Soviet 5 year plan failed. MH-P's demeanor and anxiousness to make her point shows how desperately she needs to disparage the very foundation of individual freedom.

you get a point this time. One might ask MHP how there can be hunger, usally shortened to starving children, in a country with food banks on every corner and still ships millions of tons of food overseas Somebodies lying. There is either no starvation or the food banks aren't being supplied, or the food is being stolen and shipped overseas - where it is routinely sold.

I'm assuming that ms Harris-Perry would be be "super careful" about using the words "poor" and "hunger" with respect to modern day Americans, given that historically people have been suffered much greater abject poverty and frequently actually starved to death.

I have never thought of myself as clever. I don't usually think up cute things and I'm not necessarily original. I probably couldn't stand the details of building my own home--but it would be fun to remodel an existing home. I probably won't write a book but might be a decent editor.
So, knowing I'm not claiming credit for anything original--just an appreciation of the creative hard work (oops not supposed to say hard work unless one is ONLY working in a field somewhere.) of folks smarter than me I had a hilarious and clever-for me-thought the other day. I was re-reading just the page in AS when Franconia says what would you tell Atlas to do. You would tell him to shrug....
I thought that after the last 7 years what might happen instead of Atlas Shrugged, it may be Atlas Puked. Sorry for the insensitivity.
However, I did set alone and laugh out loud. It struck me as so funny and sadly appropriate I spent a couple bucks with Go Daddy and bought the domain name......
    atlaspuked.com
I don't know what I'm going to do with it--I just wanted it even if the joke is just mine.
Well, now every time I think of Melissa, Al Sharpton, Al Gore, Dick Durbin, Bernie Sanders,
Hillary, all the RINO'S, that NUMBSKULL from the IRS, Lois Lerner, Debbie Wasserman-Whatever, somebody stop me......
I propose the weekly, most insane, ridiculous, freedom hating, intelligence testing buffoon receives our...... wait for it.......
    Atlas Puked Award.
    Respectfully proposed to us--the Gulch.

Sad, and amusing. When I was in high school, I worked in the fruit orchards in the Santa Clara valley, and the migrant workers there were among the hardest working people I've ever seen. This airhead bimbo isn't speaking for minorities who've labored all their lives, but for herself, as a privileged, lazy member of the race-hustler crowd.

Even emotions, to be true emotions, have to be based in reality. She is try to obtain an "effect" without a base "cause". She wants to be perceived as so smart when she is a complete moron and looter.
    Cheers

Which answers my question What IS an MP and why should I care. Sometimes taking a brief look is worth while like this Professor Allen at ...Princeton...was it? Who decided the Declaration of Independence had been forged which gave her and her group the right to change the meanings of the Constitution. Turned out she's illiterate and didn't recognize punctuation. Didn't stop her though. Interviews, a book, the whole gamut. What is literacy to a PC major?

Besides nothing, one could call this ding-a-ling a career race hustler, but maybe that would be paying more attention to this MSNBC something than she deserves.
And what is MSNBC ratings-wise? Nothing.
Old dino just tapping on keys here.

Somebody has to invent things, somebody has to make things, somebody has to deliver and sell things. Where do these liberals think all this stuff comes from? There are people that actually work and provide a useful and desirable product or service for the consumption of everyone including the people that hate the system and only want to consume.

In the war of ideas for reason, individual rights, liberty, justice, and the future of America, she is a blatant and persistent propagandist for The Dark Side. She also said "we have to get over the notion that kids belong to their parents and recognize they belong to our society." She is for modern slavery reparations and reverse racism too.
If you encounter this type of position with another person, my suggestion is to try and shock them into fuller awareness. Try telling them that they have been compromised and absorbed into the matrix which is actively destroying America. Might as well try for an extreme reaction.
