Unfarging believable. The founding fathers apparently either had nothing to do with setting the very foundation of our country, or they were closet Muslims.
IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation To call upon a neighbour and to say: – "We invaded you last night – we are quite prepared to fight, Unless you pay us cash to go away."
And that is called asking for Dane-geld, And the people who ask it explain That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld And then you'll get rid of the Dane!
It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation, To puff and look important and to say: – "Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you. We will therefore pay you cash to go away."
And that is called paying the Dane-geld; But we've proved it again and again, That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld You never get rid of the Dane.
It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation, For fear they should succumb and go astray; So when you are requested to pay up or be molested, You will find it better policy to say: --
"We never pay any-one Dane-geld, No matter how trifling the cost; For the end of that game is oppression and shame, And the nation that plays it is lost!"
(this is why Kipling is not taught in our schools; nobody wants a wise voter base.)
My other half was an expat engineer in Saudi for almost 20 years... and got to travel fairly extensively through a country that is not only the armpit, er, nest, er, dustbowl, er, birthplace of Islam, but one that is *so* hyper-ultra-strict Wahhabi (not Wasabi, tho Wasabi is not as strong as Wahhabi) Islam, so totally closed and *so* tightly controlled (with their very own Mahabith (secret police) and Ha'yah (religious police) watching and reporting EVERYTHING) that not only are foreigners are not allowed to travel unless they have special internal visas allowing them to do so on official business, but if you're suspected of something, God help you, for you are truly guilty unless you can somehow, from your prison cell awaiting your 500 lashes and 10 years (a light-ish sentence, BTW) , innocent (quite the trick).
Public executions are a rather common form of entertainment there, especially in the more "rural" parts of the Kingdom - from apostate muslims getting their heads lopped off, to a suspected gay couple being strapped together inside a building as it was bulldozed on top of them, to the customary lopping off of hands for any of various and manifold reasons. So common that it becomes commonplace and a non-event. Also well known is that if you are in prison, and memorize the ENTIRE Koran, you will be pardoned. About 2 or 3 people a year accomplish this feat (and a feat it is!)... if you don't speak Arabic, well, sorry, guess you will by the time you're done.
I'm not speaking from conjecture and guesses and stuff I make up and snippets from a book - be it the Koran or a Tourist guide or whatever - I'm speaking from knowledge gained from someone with legitimate, first hand experience there, in the dustbin that that Mohammed guy did his thing.
If you want the "truth" seek out someone who lived there. Better, seek out someone who converted away from Islam and ask them directly. Or, if you feel especially gutsy, find an Imam, get a Koran, convert - heck, becom a Hajji and see Mecca and Medina... then go back to your current beliefs (or non-beliefs). Just watch your back...
THIS is why Islam is the most common religion worldwide. Once you're in... you can never leave.
Good grief. Visit Dearborn Mi. sometime. They didn't build it, but they are changing it. Once there, if you are not Muslim, you will feel the need to assimilate, because they aren't. Perhaps in time, but the concentration allows them to maintain their own state within a state. They appreciate the freedom the U.S. offers, but instead of adopting any other part of this nation's culture and assimilating, they stand alone. Their offspring and future generations will do the assimilating in time. Of course I know this a generalization, there are exceptions and I have many acquaintances outside of the Dearborn area from those nations that have assimilated to various degrees, but they are not the devout Burqa wearing type. They are the ones that came here to escape such oppressive doctrine. To the devout they would not be considered Muslim...they would be apostate.
That's funny. From all I can tell the first involvement muslims had with the "fabric of our nation" happened one Tuesday morning a few years back while we were all at work minding our own business.
This reply is off topic, but I'm not so sure that true Islam prescribes death for apostates. I heard from a person who read several translations of the Koran that it never says that anywhere - along with lots of other things that are in Sharia and things that some Muslims believe.
I'm no apologist for Islam, believe me. I think Muslims are incredibly dangerous and the spread of Islam should be stopped. But I'm also interested in the truth.
Just like when you listen to Christians who trot out snippets of the Bible incessantly, we're getting snippets of the Koran - out of context. If you can stand it tune into one of the Christian cable stations for a few minutes, pause it after each quotation from the Bible and go look up the passage. Chances are excellent that the quote they just used does NOT mean what they implied it meant - but you have to see it in context with the surrounding text. The same is true of little quotes from the Koran.
I'm a hardcore atheist so the Koran and the Bible are both poorly written fiction as far as I'm concerned, but if you're going to quote fiction you should at least quote it in a way that doesn't imply it means something that it doesn't.
All that being said, even if the Islam being touted and spread today is a false Islam, that doesn't change the danger it poses to the rest of the world.
And back on topic, it's irrelevant that it has been customary for the President to send religious greetings. It's inappropriate for the reasons I already stated and the practice should be stopped.
He probably would, except that takes knowledge that the Mongols overran most of the middle east in the mid to late 1200's. He would then say they were influenced by their contact with the Muslims and the Koran, etc. etc. ad nauseum...
Of course, that takes a knowledge of real history, not the made up kind that the Nation of Lenin taught them so very well...
Like every law or policy antecedent to President Obama, he simply ignores the separation of church and state policy. How America tolerates a White House celebration of Islam the day after beheaded Christians heads are placed on pikes by ISIS only speaks to the fact this nation has lost its soul.
Ya know, after all these years of Dear Leader and the Caliphate Princess, I wish they would take these on as their *PERSONAL* goals starting now. And starting with moving to a different place - eg OUT of the executive mansion.
The comment about changing of traditions and history - now *that* is downright f'n scary.
Hope everyone likes this Hope(less) and Change(to caliphate).
I never heard of any Muslims that were `The Very Fabric of Our Nation". But you have to admit they are part of that fabric now. They took down those nasty planes and towers and murdered more people in our nation than the Japs killed at Pearl Harbor.

Anyone got a bottle of Keyboard and Monitor cleaner handy? Actually, I think I may need a firehose...

Here's your example... Public Law 10-289 has a rider mandating you say this 7 times a day while facing toward Washington DC.
