My point is simple. It's customary for the white house to send holiday greetings out, usually around mid-December. I have a few Presidential Christmas cards from my in-law's collected papers... pretty cool, those. So if the CiC wants to wish people a Merry Christmas, or a Happy Hannukah, or a Blessed Eid, or a joyous Solstice to Wiccans (now wouldn't *that* raise a s#!tstorm?), it's not a big f'n deal, at least to me.

Know something funny? If you convert to Islam then renounce it, you get a Fatwah on your head. That's right, by converting *from* Islam you put on this huge target and are subject to immediate dispatchure by any other Muslim, for that conference with Allah regarding their apostasy.

Ya know... I kinda sorta wonder if that's the driving force behind Potus... Perhaps (emphasis on the irony of that word) he *did* convert, and has to keep his obedience to the Koran otherwise he puts on that big ol' target. After all, Sharia law knows no boundaries (or laws, IMO).

I beg to differ. The best course of action is for the President to refrain from recognizing any religious occasions of any kind. As noted by another commenter, whose religious holidays do you honor with an official statement? If you recognize one then you should recognize ALL of them. Between Islam, Judaism, B'hai and Catholicism you'd have to issue a statement almost every day! With over 20 major gods in Hinduism - it would never end!

And think of the uproar when POTUS issued a formal recognition of The Coming of the Great Colander for those that "worship" the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

jbrenner- correct. It may not be correct to say that the pirates were promoting Islam, they were basically pirates. Another interesting point is that several European nations at the time, Britain, France, Spain, had strong navies but tried to ignore the problem of their shipping being attacked and crews and passengers captured and sold as slaves. They were busy fighting each other so the credit for stopping those attacks was with the US navy. It was not a great military operation, but good leadership. The pirate ships were not well armed, they were fast and maneuverable, no big guns but slaves pulling oars, all the others had only sails.

The problem is that both are false. The religion of Islam is incompatible with the tenets of the Constitution in so many ways:
1) State-sponsored (and mandated) religion
2) prohibition on free speech
3) degradation of women
4) disparagement of others with differing beliefs
5) enforcement of religion

Given the conflicting ideals, one can not build up America using Islam. It's a complete and utter "fabrication".

While it's fitting to wish holiday greetings to a religious segment in our country (although I have yet to see him make a public pronouncement on Vesak (Buddha's birthday), a blessed Nouruz to the Zoroastrian community, or even a prosperous Baisakhi to the Sikhs living here) his determination to re-write history, and make it part of his Obamist Caliphate, is disgusting.

There is a certain integrity and (at least public) honesty that's supposed to go with that job. This guy not only throws this out with the bathwater, not unlike some tin pot dictators in lesser countries, he just doesn't seem to care that his BS is blatant, his lies transparent, and people will swallow it like the Blue Pill...

Inspired thought - maybe that's why the Dems took the "blue" for their color - the fantasy world blue pill of the matrix - rather than the red, or painful and brutal honesty pill of the real world.

I always thought there was a level of honesty and integrity that went with the office - at least in public appearances. Apparently this decorum no longer holds; this shows just how much this cat is willing to take it to a whole new level of &u!!$#!t. (pardon my inferred language.)

I think its telling the way members of his staff - and cabinet - seem to resign with some regularity. They stay until they realize the stench and flee.
