Three Generals in Trumps high level staff and Cabinet. Anyone worried?
With three general officers in top admin posts named so far, is anyone concerned that the military is getting too munch power in the civilian arena?
I know the Eisenhower had to step down as a 5 star general when he was elected president but 5 stars carry a different responsibility and have different rules the main one being they never retire they just keep going.
These general have all retired after years of service to the country. All have great credentials for the positions they have been nominated for. I don't dsee an issue here. They will take the oath of office and have clearly demonstrated the capability and capacity to uphold that oath on multiple occasions.
Me? I'm not worried, I'm proud that men like these are willomg tp gp through the confirmation process and continue to serve their country..

Perhaps its Trump hiring people with less hidden agendas who have less to prove and more to offer than executives at Goldman Sachs.
My Senator is Chuck Schummer and I would not trust him to care for my dog but he is the leader of the dumbocrats.
Since all of the generals Trump has selected have already proven they are willing to stand up to an incompetent Commander in Chief, they appear to be the good guys. They all have experience with controlling large, highly complex organizations, I have no reason to doubt they will be very competent in their assigned duties.
I would say in my experience most military people are not skilled at developing new management structure. They have moved from post to post in fully-manned, positions their entire careers. They are pretty much terrible as P&L business turn-around agents (terrible!); however, they can be great at managing a successful staff, and instilling additional vision and discipline.
Having worked with many retired military, including many general officers, I do NOT see an interest in war mongering. They know what war is, what is winnable, and what is scary as a post-win scenario. These people can be great leaders, just don't look to them to reset an organization.
hehehe...
The appointments are a bit concerning but the president and the secretary of defense will be civilian. Plus the military has been regimented to be loyal to the state and not the generals. Of course, its to be seen what kind of president Trump will be. I feel fearful he will ultimately be ineffectually and a weak president, but that is to be seen.
They have seen the negative of career politicians that pose unnecessary danger to our troops with restrictive rules of engagement.
I think I'll go sit in the rocking chair for a while, no on second thought there is 1/2 a foot of snow to shovel . I can't rock it off the driveway.
The example I provided was given for you to reconsider your faith in the incorruptible of the US military. The fact is there is a military industrial complex where people in the military and people in the business world have closed ties and cozy relationships. Under certain circumstances, the US military could be use to support a coup. It was attempt in the business plot back in 1933. (The background of which can be found on Wikipedia. The link I provided.)
