With three general officers in top admin posts named so far, is anyone concerned that the military is getting too munch power in the civilian arena?
I know the Eisenhower had to step down as a 5 star general when he was elected president but 5 stars carry a different responsibility and have different rules the main one being they never retire they just keep going.
These general have all retired after years of service to the country. All have great credentials for the positions they have been nominated for. I don't dsee an issue here. They will take the oath of office and have clearly demonstrated the capability and capacity to uphold that oath on multiple occasions.
Me? I'm not worried, I'm proud that men like these are willomg tp gp through the confirmation process and continue to serve their country..

The founding father went out of their way to prevent the military to have too much power politically. Their aim was to make the military subservient to the government. History has shown time and time again when people in the military has too much political power they often tempted to take power and with the military behind them they are often successful.

The appointments are a bit concerning but the president and the secretary of defense will be civilian. Plus the military has been regimented to be loyal to the state and not the generals. Of course, its to be seen what kind of president Trump will be. I feel fearful he will ultimately be ineffectually and a weak president, but that is to be seen.

So, we should not worry about career politicians who have the pretty face and gift of BS but we should worry about highly trained military men who have proven themselves in and on the field of battle with the ability to lead men and a major organization.
My Senator is Chuck Schummer and I would not trust him to care for my dog but he is the leader of the dumbocrats.

When it comes to strength it is much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. The military is the ultimate immune system.

The people less likely to engage in war are those who have been in war and know how to engage in warfare. I worry more about lifelong career politicians in office engaging in war than retired generals in cabinet positions. They are the most qualified and most experienced in managing large organizations and decision making. As the saying goes: For those who fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know".

Not at all worried about the Generals. Recalling the "qualifications" of too many Obama appointees (and the unusually long delay in filling some of those positions), Trump's appointees offer a history of accomplishment in their respective military careers. Probably the most anyone can say at this juncture is that hopefully, Trump's appointments will help deliver the kind of reasoned judgments born by experience that will help Trump to become a better President and leader for the nation and our allies than Obama's commitment to political ideology allowed him to be.

Perhaps its a slightly subtle statement to adversaries and enemies.
Perhaps its Trump hiring people with less hidden agendas who have less to prove and more to offer than executives at Goldman Sachs.
