This is chilling for me. I recently came to the conclusion that about 85% of the citizens in America don't think. There is a population of about 15% that does and the two groups are splintering apart now. So, the numbers here freak me out a little. Maybe, given the dates, this has always been the case(?)

And worse yet, the 85% (more than half of whom are moochers) gets to vote to put looters in place to "legally" loot from us, the 15%. Actually Ayn Rand and I both think that it is less than 15%. Regardless, it is why we can't count on the American governmental system to protect us from the 85%.

Not sure if I'll get in trouble for quoting song lyrics, even though I'll give full credit; if so, my apologies, and I won't repeat the mistake.

Singer/songwriter Todd Snider has a song called "Statistician Blues" which contains the following:

"They say 3 percent of the people use 5 to 6 percent of their brain
97 percent use 3 percent and the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one I am but I'll bet you my last dime
99 percent think with 3 percent 100 percent of the time"

Makes me want to both laugh and cry at the same time.

Thanks for this post, awebb. In addition to thinking, Edison also worked harder than anyone else. Edison was not afraid to romp through the entire periodic table to get the best solution for his problem. He had a couch set up next to his lab.
