If we all voted for the candidate with the least campaign commercials and the least ads ran in his name we might get candidates that vote to make the country better rather than candidates paid to work against us.

How about we vote for the candidate that best represents the Constitution and limited government?

Basing your vote on the least promoted candidate means you get the lunatics and flakes who are so outside the thinking of sane and rational people.

The commercials are almost an industry that depends on our thinking that certain politicians or parties are saving or destroying the country. People who follow TV news often really believe President Bush or President Obama personally took intentional egregious actions to undermine the entire country. The industry needs people to think "OMG Obama/Bush is destroying our freedom! We need someone like Bush/Obama."

The whole thing borders on a scam. It's not a true scam. It's just what works. You want to run for office, so you ask an expert what works. They tell you the networks are whipping people into a frenzy about Democrats or Republicans. If you get behind one of the parties, you'll get the benefit of the party plus the diehard partisans who follow Fox News or The Nation magazine.

I’m sorry, but when there are representatives introducing bills to protect a child’s right to make toy guns from pastries and other representatives asking for global-warming funds be based on gender to prevent women from being forced into prostitution ---I give up.

    Let me know who wins.

I think most candidates are there to enrich themselves and feel the need to rule over others. The others who go to Washington to do good fall victim to the same thinking.

You can count on one hand the politicians who remain faithful to the Constitution.
