Amazing.... I just can't understand why anyone would be okay with treating others this way. It's intimidation....at the very least. And she did the breathalyzer! C'mon people!

I think Khalling hit the nail on the head. It is a test to see how many sheep the DHS can find so they can extend their invasion into our lives. I'm from Texas and totally bent out of shape by this. You can bet that it's a "test" case project from our 'caregivers' in government.

In such a situation, one should ask the officer(s) "Am I being detained?" (have your cell phone camera running if possible). If the answer is "no", you are under no obligation to provide anything. Most states have an "implied consent" law requiring that one submit to a breath test if stopped. But that requires probable cause, which a roadblock does not have.

The further you are removed from an event like the American Revolution, or 'evolution', the less you understand the reasons behind the actions taken and the more 'civilized' or docile (creature comfortable) you become..
How many people actually understand the past 200-300 years and what actions were taken to insure our rights? How many 'men' out there have the guts that our forefathers had. As we progressed into this age, we regressed in our mental and physical independence.

Just my 2 cents as a newbie.

What ever happened to "Terry Stop" requirements???? This is so illegal.

The more I think about this the madder I get.

We do occasionally run into late night "safety checks" around here. They are no more than law enforcement fishing expeditions where "hope" to find drunk drivers or other criminals. I've been told that orders come down from above that the officers on these details will remain on the task until they nab a certain number of offenders - then the press in the area are notified of how "successful" the thing was.

The real problem comes in when these bored officers begin to exceed the simple mandate they were given and turn what should be a 30 second stop (still not legal ion my mind) into a 30 minute event where they get people out of their cars, search all through, run everybodies ID's and heaven help you if you have a knife or gun - you could be there for hours.

I was the subject of one of these stops a couple years ago, I don't drink or use drugs, I am insured and all my "paper's" are up to date and a sixty YO guy in a wheelchair with his wife towing a 34' Travel Trailer, on their way home after a long trip can't be high on their list of possible "suspects", but there we were a hour. Most of that time was spent trying to make the officers involved understand why I would not summit to a "voluntary" search of my trailer "if you don't have anything to hide".

Following that event I tried to get some legal assistance group to help fight this stuff, but since I was not arrested, they all said I'd never be able to prove I was "damaged" by this foray into my freedoms.

    Sad.

There's not much I could add except for this - anybody reading this who voted for BO and the rest of the constitutional shredding "servants" in DC - thanks this all this, another nail in the US's coffin.

    Wake up people!

At 50 seconds: "They wanted to test her breath for alcohol...for free". What a deal!

Police cars with their lights flashing. Police officers saying no you cannot drive where you want, please pull off into this area. And..."It is 100% voluntary!" Well, that's a relief. And...they apparently do a check for alcohol before they even ask you to sign a consent form. Your FEDERAL government at work. They just happen to be doing it in Texas. Texas, show some guts and kick these guys out of your state.

These stops are *supposedly* for some sort of ^STUDY^.
To be valid, the sample population would have to be a random group of people.
Offering a nominal amount of money & getting info only from the people who say YES - is far from a random sample.
    It's biased as all hell.

So I have to ask: What are they **really** looking to find out??
My guess: How passive is the populace??

Or just how willing they were to be paid to be put in several national databases, so they can be tracked and identified more easily when they decide to stop being a sheep... It will make their ID so much easier when they're in the new Patriot Insurgent Detention Facility... or when the escape...

People should demand to know why they were stopped immediately when stopped. If the officer does not have a reason to hold them they should then leave. The fact that they are offering to pay people for their DNA and or Blood is not even germane to this as the initial stop is illegal. Those officers should be disciplined for abuse of their authority.

What about: "the survey over three years, said participation was "100 percent voluntary" and anonymous."

Anyone who didn't want to participate didn't have to. Seems to me that's fair.
