You've all heard the What Next After Gun Control jokes.
Knives that stab people?
Cars that run over people?
Sticks that get up and bash people?
In London Muslim and black minorities are stabbing people and throwing acid bombs.
The solution?
Search white people and arrest them for carrying anything sharp. .
Guess it goes without saying that Brit crackers shouldn't pack acid bombs either.
Multiple choice question.
The above statements make allosaur~
A. ~a mouth full of contraband.
B. ~a racist.
C. ~not a lib.

I'm reminded of the story of the Chinese emperor who made civilian ownership of swords, spears, and bows and arrows illegal to try to reduce crime. He was disappointed when his mandarins told him the criminals were using kitchen implements and garden tools, so he made it a law that only wooden implements could be used in cooking, and that all garden tools had to be registered. Satisfied he had things under control, he was astonished when his mandarins reported the criminals were using chopsticks to kill and rob people. At that point he realized that it was evil people that were the problem, not the implements they used to commit crimes, and he abolished all of his weapon restrictions.

So now they can't even bring a knife to a gun fight..the Brits are starting to give a whole new perception to derogatory term"bambi".

Clearly, they haven't seen the creativity of an American convict/inmate. They can fashion a very legitimate fighting instrument with ergonomic features out of a toothbrush and duct tape.

During my 21 years as a corrections officer, me dino confiscated such weapons and have seen such wicked devices on display, beginning at the state corrections academy in Selma, Alabama.

Slingshots must still be legal, ah, until further notice.

But would have to be locked up so that bad people could not use them. Reminds me of the over 400 schools in a NY school district that purchased a 16 inch mini baseball bat for each school so that as a last resort a student could knock a gun out of the hand of a shooter. But the bat had to be locked up so that it did not get into the wrong hands.
In the 50s no one in my schools worried about small pen knives like the one I would use in study hall next to the guy with his brown paper bag with his whiskey bottle.

With the proper permit, perfectly legal. Rocks however are heavily taxed. There are exemptions for buckets of river rocks used for authorized student stoning of strangers.

Whoa! Why should students throw rocks when they can be propelled all the faster?
I suddenly recall a scene in a movie called Thinner when a young Gypsy woman shot a lead ball to make a hole through the protagonist's hand.
Hey, shooting lead balls. That's even better.
I've read that ancient slingers sometimes used lead balls instead of rounded river rocks way back when.
Lead balls. What does that remind me of?
Yes, the propulsion of lead balls.
Excuse me while me dino goes to go figure.

Students throwing river rocks at a dangerous looking stranger was actually one of the alternative left solutions, against properly training and arming the school staff. Didn’t hear anything from the left about using sling shots.

Brits used to be eccentric, and that was fun. Now they are goofy. They implemented outcome-based ed. years ago, created a "brain drain", in their words. Then they put a Muslim in charge of BBC religious programming, also dumped Top Gear, bad chaoices. Now they are anti-knife. That just won't work here, not giving up my Ben Nighthorse Campbell knife, nor my inlaid ones, nor my Indian ones in sheaths. Husband always has a pocket knife, so do I. What next, ban hoof picks or pea shooters!

Rather than banning inanimate objects, which in and of themselves do nothing without the impetus of people, if London is truly sincere, they should ban people!

Even banning everything and completing a mandatory cutting off of everyone’s finger and toenails, won’t stop the violence.
If they actually figure it out before it’s too late, they’ll survive.

Reminds me of an old legend, where in Russia, in order that their boys not get conscripted into the army, they'd cut off their index finger at birth. They were hoping that after a few generations, they'd be born that way.

Well, it's not too shocking, if you understand and consider the principles involved. And these anti-gun people obviously do not respect man's right to self-
defense. In fact, even though the right to bear arms is in the Constitution, the fact of having to quibble over whether it applies only to a militia or also to individuals just shows the flagrant disrespect shown nowadays to a * natural, inborn right of man*. If the right to self-defense
does not exist, how could any other rights exist in the first place?
But this attitude is not new. I have seen it
from long ago, even when I was a child. Adults
telling children not to fight back when somebody
else makes aggression against them, with the
hypocritical admonition to go to someone in authority instead, which authority, when appealed to, just spouts a lot of blather (another word would describe it better, but there are restrictions about what one is supposed to put on the Internet); this being applied to fists, etc., it is no surprise when it is applied to guns when the child becomes an adult.

They would have fun with me.
    Let's see:
    - machetes for debranching trees
    - axes for splitting wood
    - hammers for framing
    - chisels for woodworking
    - scythe for cutting weeds
    - chainsaws
    - picks for digging clay, etc
    - field hockey stick for knocking ice off the bottom of my car
    - utility knives
    - metal pipes for projects
    and the list goes on.

What this was linked to was an actual story where a homeowner stabbed an intruder with a screwdriver. The criminal first used it as a weapon and the homeowner reversed the use. Guess who ended up getting charged and taken to jail? The homeowner. Just insane.

Just a few years ago, Australia began registering swords. Seems there was a rash of sword attacks, following their gun confiscation.

And it's funny that London's mayor (a Muslim) would find carrying knives inappropriate, considering the stereotypical image of a robed Arab with a scimitar on his hip...

I'm right up there with you in anti-PC, Allosaur.

Your image of the "Muslim" with the sword is of course a Sikh. Sikh men are required by their religion to carry a real knife or sword. It is not merely symbolic. The London ban on knives is an offense against Sikhs.

If they make an exception for Sikhs, then dressing as a Sikh will become the new fashion of the jihadist.

Thank you for the correction. I figured my generalization was probably off, but I just had to comment.

Within a week after the 9/11 attack, I read a news account of some dude retaliating by murdering a Sikh (due to the headgear) somewhere in the northwest, Oregon or Washington State maybe. My dino memory is kinda fuzzy.
The killer now sits in some prison with his life ruined~and woefully aware that he got back at the wrong religion.

When my eyes reached "stereotypical image," me dino actually thought I was about to read of a Muslim holding a knife to a throat prior to a decapitation.
Guess to some that would make me an Islamophobic racist.

"There is never a reason to carry a knife."
This just goes to show you can say "what does anyone need with X," where X is almost anything.

In apparently unintentional irony, the OP commentary says don't focus on the weapons used; focus on the criminals' physical appearance and group identity. It's as if to illustrate we cannot be satisfied with crime people illegal but not zero; we have to find someone's rights to take away.

Lotta people carry pocketknives because sometimes one comes in handy. Almost all of them have no intention of stabbing anyone.
I have a 32-year-old son who carries a pocketknife all the time and he hasn't stabbed anyone yet.
Heck, he's even a 9mm concealed carry like age 71 me. So far we've never gotten around to shooting anyone either.

My 9-y/o son and I carry pocket knives sometimes. My son's is a Craftsman utility knife. Mine's a Gerber. They taught him to use it responsibly in cub scouts. I wonder if there would be an exemption for utility knives in London. I know it's considered a major violation if my son carried it to school.

But someone out there would your son a bucket of river rocks to throw at shooters.
As if a kid can't get so mad at another kid that he'd grab oine of those.

Yes. Exactly. One way or the other, kids must learn not to throw rocks, bullets, knives, or fists at one another. There's no way make even violent impulses disappear by just banning everything.

Why focus on the cause of these increased pen stabbings? All we need to do is ask how can we all make all the ball point pens safer? And, how can we get white males to surrender all those unsafe ball point pens?

It has just occurred to me that ball point pens come with a safety mechanism, which is that button you can press with your thumb to retract the point.
Pencils ,on the other hand, cannot be rendered safe. I was a recruit on Parris Island when an hand-to-hand combat trainer said, "You can kill a man with a pencil. How?"
One recruit: "Sir! You can stick him in the eye. Sir!"
Trainer: "Yes the eye leads straight to the brain. Anyone else?"
Another recruit: "Sir! You can stick him in the ear. Sir!"
Trainer: "Yes, the ear canal also leads to the brain. Anyone else?"
Yet another recruit: "Sir! You can stick him in the throat. Sir!"
Trainer: "Yes, and try to sever the carotid artery. Heck you can even shove it down his throat. The point I'm trying to make is that there's all kinds of objects~bla, bla, etc."
Remember when Heath Ledger's Joker made a pencil disappear? Grabbed a Gotham City hood by the head and slammed him face-down on a pencil balanced on it brand new eraser. Right through the old eye socket that pencil went to indeed disappear. Wow, what a magic act that was.
Maybe I should sit down and send a note right over to Mayor Kahn to advise him of the pencils not coming with a safety mechanism.
On the other hand, nah! My keyboard might try to hit me.
