A Brief Moment of Pride
I'm now in eleventh grade, and last year was my last chance to enter the Anthem essay contest. I did so several months ago and forgot until a few days ago, when the email came in.
Third place! (Granted there are 10 3rd place winners, but still cool.) Earned a pretty penny for my essay, and a free book. I chose The Fountainhead, to replace my torn up copy; the rest I already have.
Now it's time to tackle The Fountainhead essay. ;)

You have something else to tell your brother.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle penned The Lost World on which the 1925 silent movie was based.
Before he wrote that, he completed his Sherlock Holmes series of mostly short stories.
I read some if not most of those stories in a hardcover book I bought during the 70s.
I know I did not read them all because Sherlock's arch rival Professor Moriarty was not in any of them.
Click the link and scroll down to find The Lost World mentioned under "Other Works."

I will never lose sight of this community of friends. I'm always happy to see familiar faces like yours. :)
He lifted The Lost World title off a previous novel and a silent movie in which an allosaur was called a "pest."
He also renamed "Eaters of the Dead" written by a medieval Arab (that I read during the 60s), retitled it "The Thirteenth Warrior," and passed it off as his own work.
You may find it amusing to scroll through the flick in which Allosaurus beat T-Rex for appearing in a movie. Jurassic rock layers may be older that Cretaceous, but allosaur fossils were also dug up first.

Allosaurus did not walk so upright as did T-Rex in many a movie.. It was during the 80s that paleontologists figured out that theropod carnosaurs were tail-balancing teeter-totters.
The Jurassic Park movies got it right.
