A Brief Moment of Pride

I'm now in eleventh grade, and last year was my last chance to enter the Anthem essay contest. I did so several months ago and forgot until a few days ago, when the email came in.

Third place! (Granted there are 10 3rd place winners, but still cool.) Earned a pretty penny for my essay, and a free book. I chose The Fountainhead, to replace my torn up copy; the rest I already have.

Now it's time to tackle The Fountainhead essay. ;)

we in the gulch have "adopted" Sarah as our
'favorite daughter,' and she keeps on proving
just how fine she is! -- j

I was introduced to her at my age 15, and every day
I am grateful for the enhancement of my entire life.
all of a sudden, I wasn't alone, anymore!
Rand was out there, proving that there were others! -- j

    Congratulations!

Oh how I wish that I could turn back time and be introduced to Ayn Rand's thoughts by age 15.

    You are very fortunate.

By the time I read this, everything I wanted to say has been said. Congratulations on being one of the people who will help steer things in the right direction in the future, and your earlier promise when you first started contributing to the Gulch has been superseded by all that has come since.
May you have a brilliant, satisfying, and complete life.

Yeah, those too smart for their own good Cretaceous Period velociraptors ain't even from the older Jurassic Period with me the top predator of that time.
But have you seen an allosaurus in Jurassic Park movie?
    No-no-no!
I'm being discriminated against, I tell you!
    Discriminated against!
Slighted in the worst kinda way!
    Oh, boo-hoo-hoo!

i can check with ARI and see if it's public domain or not. Either way, I won't have access to my computer (and the essay) till I get back from this trip. Every part of me wants to, although I'm not sure it's my best work.

I've been here for a while, allosaur, but I don't remember if I've actually talked to you- I always enjoy seeing your posts though. Thanks for the compliments. It means a lot coming from someone like yourself.

I think, next time I stay in Jurassic Park, I'll camp out in your paddock instead of the velociraptors. Last time was a fiasco.

Very refreshing to see some youth on the forum. now if she can get the other 9 3rd place finishers as well as numbers 1 and 2 to come on board. it would be interesting to see how the see things today.

Pass on your successes with class mates, get them interested...I'm afraid that it's going to be up to you guys to help save the Republic for the sake of mankind.

We are here to mentor that process.

Thanks, Sarah. You give me throat-lumps. Keep it up and you may wind up being one of the persons who turns humanity in the right direction. Right now, we really need you and more like you in order to become what humanity should and could be.

    ???What????
I didn't know we had this kid in the Gulch!
A good kid. A smart kid.
A kid who does intelligent things she can be proud of.
    We need more of those.
    So does this country.
Sarah would be safe in my Jurassic Park paddock.
