Wow, I'm so glad that this is run responsibly, no possibility of fraud here!

Out tax dollars at work feeding people who don't live in the USA. These are real live moochers and looters, using OUR money! Rat bastards

Apparently it's legal. Ethical and moral are another matter.

IMHO, if you can send it to your family (or black market) in the Caribbean, then you aren't really hungry and should not be eligible to receive food you didn't earn, but what do I know.

"The US Department of Agriculture is urging states to go after welfare cheaters who are caught shipping food out of country."

It must be illegal to do this, for the DOA to ask for enforcement.

The program is supposed to be means tested, but my guess is that they accept anything that you claim for income. There is probably very little effort to control the costs of this welfare (until stories like this appear).

Judge Napalatano was on Varney and Company this morning. He said it's not illegal to give food to your friends, family, the people across the street.

I know the WIC program just goes on what you tell them. I know someone who is on WIC and has a horse. Being catholic and not Amish, a horse is a luxury, not a necessity.

I'll have a way to test this in two weeks: my youngest son was away to college and receiving food stamps. He returns in a couple of weeks to live here, and attend our local university.

By rights, I will be feeding him (again), and he will probably NOT qualify to keep getting the stamps. He has to change his address for this, and I will ask him to update his info with the agency. I will see if anyone asks the crucial questions....

I became the legal guardian for two children, their mother relinquished custody to me. The children were eligible for aid to dependent children. When I applied for this aid I was denied because the mother was receiving it from the county where she lived. The mother assured me she had stopped receiving the aid, which was true. I called officials in her county and reported apparent abuse, I had the children the mother was getting the aid; I knew the aid had stopped but the case was never closed. The officials in her county said there was nothing they could do, they wouldn’t even look into it. They told me I could go to her county and file a report. So if you lay a case of fraud at their feet they can’t solve it, which means they don’t effort solving any abuse in the system. The mother went to the social service office in her county and had her case closed. Think of how much abuse doesn’t get corrected.
