I'm very happy to have landed in the Gulch... I have read each and every one of Rand's works (including all nonfiction). I am currently working on a novel of my own which centers on Randian-type heroes but delves more deeply into their inner worlds and personality quirks. I am very interested in starting discussions about how Objectivism can evolve to more clearly outline how one can best live in reality. I find that Rand's character profiles and epistemology fall slightly short in painting detailed pictures of human life -- AKA, a human life which wants to become heroic but feels overwhelmed with the world as it is and unsure of how to bring about the world as it could be. I want to explore the "Human" side of being an Objectivist for the sake of providing a better and more comprehensive outline for how one might rationally navigate reality.

Welcome Deborah. Glad to have you here and I look forward to the discussion your "exploration" should generate. You are among good company here, in that we are blessed with several outstanding, successful authors in our ranks who delve into the manner in which objectivists can best thrive in reality. Cheers!

That sounds like an interesting book. It was the personal aspects of the characters in Atlas Shrugged that grabbed me...White Blackmail with Rearden, etc.

I think that AR wanted to paint her heroes as flawless, so they tend to be less than three dimensional. We all are flawed, and have our own particular quirks. If you can pull off the flawed hero in a Randian perspective, I'd be an avid reader. Welcome.
