The overall system is much worse. Among the various systems designed by Kafka, entering the US a week ago was the first time in three years my wife was not arrested (they call it detained) as we landed in the land of the free, held, then cleared. Not only will the government not explain why on the spot, they deny you a lawyer and when you later do an FOIA, the response is simply the government is acting to protect us all. Right. How many 66 year-old French ladies, who have lived in the US for 46 years, been on any sort of terror list? Kafka reins supreme.

On the one hand, I might pause and say that the dim bulb being exposed was just experiencing a lapse in intellect. However, I suspect that what we are seeing here is just one example of a person being elevated well beyond their area of both expertise and ability.

I was talking to a liberal the other day (I could probably put that in quotes:) -- and at one point, the liberal told me that "everyone pays taxes" -- I suppose as if to imply, that everyone is paying their fair share (except, of course, the successful). And I wanted to point out that their statement was easily falsifiable, and provide counter examples. I also wanted to add some uncomfortable facts about just who, exactly, pays taxes in terms of percentage breakdowns. But I withheld my words as there would have likely been confusion on behalf of the liberal and just more frustration for me. The modern liberal either does not understand reality or has such a distaste for it that they either invent or adopt bromides that could only be espoused by a toddler.

I love Gowdy's interactions with these cardboard persons. However, as far as I can see, no punitive actions have come out of his committee. Is he being stonewalled, or is this just a dog and pony show?

Dog and pony...nothing substantial appears to happen as a result of his grillings rather than a lot of oohs and aaahs and go get 'ems.

Hope something comes of the Benghazi committee but I'm not counting on it.

Looks that way. Very disappointing.Every time this happens I expect action and never get it. I guess I'll just resolve myself to realize this is one more action that fits Einstein's definition of insanity.

You want wierd I give you wierd. DOHS pronounced Does or Daws? Sort of sits there and gets spit out followed by a tooth brush or a good mouthwash. Now it's DHS and we are getting somewhere. Rolls off the tongue as

              Dahs? sounds like morse code.\
              Deehs These?
              Diss now that works
              Dohs both of them no?
              Duhs ha ha

Diss wins! Now what does Dis signify? Disrespect in the common vulgate vernacular.

Bear with me one more step.. DISS with a sibilant hiss projects the same image as black uniforms....that of fear... We' are close.

Time for a name change Directorate Internal State Security. sibilant hiss black uniforms and everything Trey Gowdy was using to light up Ms. Stupid for December 2015.

              Leaves two questions.

Is whats her name going to beat out the airhead from the campus last month or was it the month before?

When is the name change taking place and let us not forget lightning strikes on the collar points. Lightning after all - and this does not include my old unit because Obama Diss'pises the military as a threat to totalitariansim- is Barak in Arabic and means - 'destroy.'

Just think if you had expected nothing you got fooled - but never diss'd.

Weird you want and weird you get.

You forget that he is a member of the Legislative Branch rather than the Executive. The Legislative has no powers of enforcement except Impeachment, and Impeachment doesn't apply to peons. In order to get someone fired or prosecuted, the Legislative Branch must ask the Executive Branch to act - something they simply refuse to do.

That is correct. However, by asking the Attorney General to prsecute and then getting turned down and making a fuss over it publicly, is almost as good as a guilty verdict. Also, the FBI is investigating and they have the power to indict, so we'll see what comes of that. I live in hopes. But I won't bet any money on it.

Then why is contempt of congress such a scary thought to most people? In researching it the procedure is so limited that it is useful only against citizens and not useful against employees of the the other two branches and is an implied right not a stated right.

Because Contempt is subject to the Sergeant-At-Arms of the House - kind of their own private but very temporary enforcement. For an actual criminal prosecution, however, it requires action by the Attorney General's Office.

Gowdy gets nothing done but he looks good doing it. Those who just love to see him in action are thrilled by just that, him in action, which results in absolutely nothing of substance.

I heard this recently. I have come to the conclusion that our government is NOT at war with terrorism. The borders have remained wide open. Look at this example of a complete disconnect from the issue. No...this is just another way to gain more power over the livestock and nothing more.

Yes, they look like idiots, they act like idiots, but, judging by the results, they are not nearly as stupid as we are, for it is us that swallow their stupidity and continue to re-elect the bastards and pay the parasites to feed off us.

Is flying on an airplane a constitutional right? I hate it when politicians ask a question when they already know the answer. All I can say is, it is the times we live in. None of this would have happened before 9/11.

Freedom of Travel is not a Constitutional right it's not mentioned at all which means it's a power not granted to the government. None of their business. However if the citizens of a State granted that right for their state it would be it would be a State Issue within that state. If they did not then it's a 9th amendment issue under powers not granted. That's provided you don't run into Obama's Gestapo. Flying state to state is interstate commerce....

Looks as if it's another case as as his illegal appointments claiming congress was not in session.

the rule is plain and simple . If the power is not specifically granted it doesn't exist. Obama just as plainly and even more simply has become like that air head Trey Gowdy was questioning don't care about the rule of law. It's not in their range of comprehension. She made not attempt to defend her position neither understanding nor caring why it was being questioned. Looked to me as if she just blanked the whole thing out as not worth bothering about and come to think of it didn't consider it contempt.

Where do they get these low life dumb asses? Easy answer. Any university is filled with them..

Trey Gowdy reveals the way most of the Legislation has been written and passed in the past 100 years. Every single bill has been written in the Bush and Obama administrations, i.e. The Patriot Act and the Affordable Care Act .
All of them are so poorly written and so badly thought out that the Law of Unintended Consequences must apply. The "No Fly List," a TSA Regulation that is equally stupidly developed is an example of Government Speak, Its all straight out of Orwell's "1984." The only exception that I can think of are the 19th and 21st Amendments and the Glass Stiegel Act.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Once you have given up absolutes, it is all downhill from there. Mr. Gowdy deals in absolutes of rule of law; those he is interrogating do not. Are we created or are we here by accident? If by accident, then you have no right to complain about anything.
