Very interesting article on Wilder's life. I did not miss the jabs at Rose Wilder, her daughter. Of course, as well as being a novelist in her own right, wrote non-fiction on Libertarianism themes, including Natural Rights. Without her skill in editing LIW's autobiographies, I doubt they would have ever been published. These novels are a foundation of my earliest childhood reading. I treasured these stories and passed them to my children, who I do not doubt will pass them along to their children someday.

I have not read the books, but my wife introduced me to the TV show right after we got married. They reminded me of Star Trek, so I loved them. Every once in a while we'd watch the Star Trek episode I thought was most similar to it.

I love how the characters face real problems, sometimes problems that crop up at random due to no one's fault, and they handle them themselves through hard work. I didn't like the religion, but often the church was a vehicle for people to come together voluntarily and solve problems rather than a place of mysticism.

We got half way through the TV series, and we got too busy. Now that kids are out of diapers and we have time to goof off on sites like this, we should go back and watch them or read them with the kids.
