Leaders of both major parties are fiddling while the country burns.

Excerpt:
"Democrats have long claimed that they know how to fix things through government action, but six decades of failed social policies have thoroughly undermined that notion. Joe Biden’s recent declaration that he will erase a massive tranche of student debt is remarkable for many reasons. His unilateral, probably unconstitutional, move is a sure sign of our broken government drift towards authoritarianism. The wildly different estimates of its costs, which range from $300 billion to nearly $1 trillion, are yet more evidence that nobody knows what they’re doing. Can you imagine running a business like that? The truly astonishing thing is that no one is claiming it addresses the immense and urgent problem of the high cost of college, which is strongly tied to wrongheaded federal loan policies. Democrats don’t even pretend to have the answer. They are raising the red flag, finally admitting they only know how to throw money at the issue (using taxpayer money to buy votes in the midterms).

Republicans are pointing this out, but where’s their plan?"

    Nero.

Sadly, I don't expect much. Equally sad, I've done all I can (commentary, radio, books, active parenting) and consider it time (decades) wasted. I don't intend to help. I see very little value in this generation, and perhaps the last. They do not value wisdom. They can only appreciate the sobering sting of first hand experience. Let them sleep in the moldy, blood soaked, lice ridden bed they made for THEMSELVES and their posterity. Fortunately, my time on this earth is short.

    Shrug in plain sight.

Too many on both sides of the aisle are profiting from ruining the country.
There aren't enough honest public servants in Washington to stop it.

Actually I would think it only takes one good businessman to stop it. It has to be one that perhaps operates out of the normal, acceptable, maybe even legal, aspects of our rules, Constitution, our Bill of Rights, or even public acceptance. If only we could find another Trump, one in disguise, or a fake democrat that does the opposite of what he campaigned on.

If democrats really liked the country they might continue their story, but in the voting booth actually vote for another Trump, someone that just gets the job done. I mean, everything aside, what's right is right. I guess that's what makes it so difficult for me to understand the real other side. Do they really want to destroy this country? Of course they do, there is no other explanation other than a possible or more likely a probable pure and simple stupidity. Can someone help me explain this to one of my sons, before it breaks my heart?

We should perhaps be openly in favor of Ayn Rand's philosophy, and not be afraid of being labeled "selfish", or afraid of attacks by the "Religious Right"; there are some who speak as if they were in favor of sensible economic policies, but try to justify it in terms of religion. But that won't work. We need to speak against altruism, stand up for man's right to his own life, laissez-faire capitalism, and freedom of thought (and that includes abolition of public education).

Any good businessman who comes along, GOOD is a hard term to describe, will be beaten to near death unless he gets in lockstep with the uniparty. Representing "We The People" is California Dreamin. Based on what we are witnessing right now, any fool who seeks a high position has to have a few lose screws that need tightening.

But thank God, there are still some still out there willing to take on the job. Their reasons may be different, most are for the money, the power, and the fame. A few are for the right reasons. But then too, it's like the person that joins the military, then when we get into a skirmish they refuse to go. Their claim is, "that's not what I signed up for". That's the way I view most politicians, we only hear about those that speak out and/or actually do something. Some are real, some are fake.

From what I have witnessed, as soon as a new Good Guy gets to DC the very first function they go through is Neutering. Then they get a Spinalectomy and brainwashing to erase the reason they worked to get elected. Yes there are a few, very few, who maintain their pledge to the people but they are in a severe minority.

Repubs do have a plan but the Rino's out number the real problem solvers. But, case in point, the majority of repubs have forgotten, all such problems to be solved are to be left up to the states.

Your headline gives us a perfect picture of all this "fiddling"!

Imagine if someone walked up and stabbed you a couple of times, then handed you a single bandaid and told you to thank them for the bandaid.

Now you understand all of the Biden administration's policies and messaging.

it could be a long list

all of it means more power for the traitors in our government or they would not be selling all of us out

It's all madness. If the Repubs (and that's a BIG if) actually take the mid-terms, then work really begins. Promises are being made, flags are waving, all the right words can be heard. When it all falls by the wayside, each district has the duty to either besiege their lying elected officials until they do it right, or have a recall election and put someone into the mess who will honor his/her word and remember that we are the employers. I, for one, have been gradually changing my routines and stocking up on essentials--only a portion of that being food--sinking into grayness as I Galt in plain sight because I believe this craziness will only intensify. I also have little faith in an honest election. The votes and the fraud are already waiting in the wings . This site is one last bastion of sanity and objectivity (mostly) and I will greatly miss all of you when they blacklist our community and throw us out of communication with each other. Meanwhile, keep posting, my friends!

It's so damned obvious that the politicians into into self service and not public service. We have looked into their lying faces for so long we've been brainwashed into thinking it's the truth. Guess again, they are lying. Look carefully.

Republicans (or Libertarians) need a compelling story. They have no message that can be absorbed by institutionalized young people.

The SCOTUS overturn of Roe-v-Wade, was no exception. It painted the entire party as religious zealots, regardless of the actual ruling details. In addition, it sets a precedent for overturning a precedent. I never expected to see that. Now wait for Heller-v-DC to get wrapped in barbed wire and shoved up our butts in a future court, when that vindictive ding-dong Clarence Thomas retires.

Some group needs to be working on absorb able messages for the wave of Boomer children coming. They are completely fiscally backward:
    1. They think money from Capitalism is a zero sum game, discarding wealth creation.
    2. They think money from government is infinite, with no piper to pay.
    3. They look to government for answers, ignoring the wanton waste in government and the infinitely granular democracy in a free market.
They are brain washed, and it is going to take a MASSIVE effort to unwind.

I came her to learn more messages, but we whine a lot more than we do. I'd love us to add a section for content development of clear, compelling messages, and perhaps a test system to survey young people. This ought to be like GNU coding, although the benefit to us all is clear.

The only sensible alternative is some form of real gulch, and I don't mean in Texas, or to resign ourselves, sitting and throwing rocks at kids on our lawn.

I go along with much of what you say here, Thor, but Supreme Court precedent overturning precedent has already taken place. Do a search on “have Supreme Court rulings been overturned” and a bunch of interesting stuff pops up.

      Clarence Thomas a vindictive ding-dong?

In my mind he was gloating about this decision, in the face of those who made his life miserable in his confirmation. This is a reasonable irritation, but he was way too excited about this.

Perhaps there have been other reversals, but few (any?) this close in time, and this seminal. Heller-vsDC is seminal. I foresee a future court, post-Thomas, all in white robes, eating tofu, ambrosia and unicorn, delightedly pouncing on the "militia" wording, and destroying the Second Amendment entirely.

That would have to happen after confiscation or it would set off an
immediate armed response to anyone attempting said confiscation.
Or they could wait another 20 years when most of those Americans
who remember freedom are dead, and the younger generations
would be so intent on their phone-matrix they wouldn't even notice
if one of their kidneys had been removed.

"so intent on their phone-matrix they wouldn't even notice if one of their kidneys had been removed" - absolutely hilarious!!!!

I disagree. They can override the precedent for the individual feature of the 2nd, without a massive riot, gnashing of teeth like the Roe-v-Wade, for sure. The riots might come if they subsequently tighten the knot too fast.

              I guess I wasn't clear.
The armed response would be at the local level - not a mass riot or demonstration, unless there was a federal military response to the killing of the tyrants' ATF and FBI agents trying to confiscate weapons.
Maybe the feds would start in blue cities and be temporarily satisfied with 50% of the population disarmed.
I know of many people who would respond with force to any attempt to confiscate today.
imo, the feds must be patient to avoid that response.

This has to be part of their calculus, although they have sidestepped several times recently.

No doubt the Chinese are planning this in the long term. Maybe the business people like Sorros are too. I doubt the demonrats have the strategic skills, brains or patience to think that far.

When the oligarchy takes power, an awful lot of punks that thought they were a big deal are going to be left behind. Liz Cheney and Hunter Biden come to mind.

That happened right before everyone’s eyes when Harris was chosen for VP over Whitmer. Gretchen thought she had it in the bag. Nobody toed the line on the DNC Covid narrative like her. Too bad so sad Gretch....you’re not diverse enough. Hell now we don’t even know if she fits the definition of a woman.

Kids today don't seem to be learning rational thought or logic. I think it would be a good exercise for teens to learn a simple programming language, such as BASIC or FORTRAN. If-Then statements are very instructional.

The expansion into life decisions needs to follow: "IF I decide to 'blow off' work today ... THEN I might get fired". It would save a lot of them some nasty surprises from the real world.

If, there is no way to financially support myself and my family in my selected choice of study in university
Then that area of study is not worth time or debt.

"Investment". People made an investment. It was a stupid investment. Now we are bailing them out. Sounds like banks and car companies...but in this case, too little to struggle?

This reinforces a negative lesson! Learn math and science; Become an engineer, programmer, teacher, nurse, doctor. Political Science, French Literature? Art? These are hobbies, not real careers. There is infinite factual statistics on the employ ability with such a degree, and it was ignored. Live with your choices.

FFA, I would be interested in your view regarding the absolutely ridiculous deficit/debt the left have created. Do you think this is an objective, even separate from the liberal spending?

The spending is being funneled to enrich themselves and the corrupeteers.
imo, it is an intentional goal to destroy America and individual liberty.
American patriots are the only thing standing between the alien elite and planetary
dictatorship. They have been working for a return to complete control over the
            serfs for centuries.
We either stand and fight or kneel as slaves.

With you there. Programming ought to be like math or English at this point.

Although FORTRAN is almost totally dead. Too bad Pascal died out. That was a great learning language, and the way I taught myself how pointers work. Then I became a C zealot. What a crisp, clear, efficient, comprehensive language! The Kerninghan and Ritchie First edition is fantastic. It is all in there, in ~80 pages. Recursion in the index is the best! It is on p77, and refers you to p77! Basic allows so much laziness. So does Python another common lazy interpreted language.

The trouble is that all the messaging they’ve received tells them that the “assembler” is something-ist if it refuses to compile their code.
Good analogy. The flaw is in the perception of the programmers. Reality is not an impediment to their thought process. They will readily reject it and substitute their own. And I don’t know how we fix that.”A is A” is fascism to them.
I am obviously BlackPilled and see this state of affairs as irredeemable at this point.
The root cause of this resides in the Universities. Until the collectivists are purged from higher learning nothing that “good” parents do cannot be undone. For every “kid” that wakes up, two more were just churned out of Commie U.
Better to create a parallel society. Or, pull the cover over the spider hole and wait for all the screaming and dying to stop.
Although, throwing rocks at kids in my yard sounds fun too.

Yes, I meant "participating" and voting. They are right behind my generation. Virtually ALL my buddies kids are learning as they pay taxes. Any that are getting real jobs, and not living in the basement, are beginning to squint at more government handouts.
