EMS services are now getting cancelled?

To quote on of my Dad's favorite bands CCR:
"I see a bad moon risin'.
I see trouble on the way..."

It has also affected volunteer fire departments who are now required by law to provide insurance to the volunteers. (The law considers them employees) Some have disbanded entirely when they are unable to come up with the funding to cover the healthcare costs.

Wow. I hadn't heard that. That's really a problem. I'd suggest posting a link under your own thread.

I just did a little research and it seems like since the time I read the article they "changed" the rule. Apparently enough people complained. Now volunteer emergency departments are exempt. It seems to go along with the general approach now of the dems changing their hallmark legislation after the fact in an attempt at damage control:

But of course this now changes the position of the general public, we have to ask for things that before, were a given. It's like giving a monarch absolute power and then having to petition the King for mercy. That's usually when the bribes start coming in.

I wonder if this will bring back the station wagon?

Still remember as a kid when the local ambulance company's response vehicle (privately owned, as they were in those days), which was an extremely heavy duty station wagon, would double as a morticians call-out vehicle. Still some of those old "dual purpose" station-wagon Ambuhearses around - quite a collectors market. Now more so, as they're put back into Dual-duty service...
