...AND...area 51 and of course, what would your week in memes be like with out a bitch from biden, women's soccer, on the way home after gay pride weekend and how to identify a bulge.

Problem is: You are Not a parasitical Humanoid...Conscious Humans don't usually take advantage of others that way.

I hadn't thought about that. If a video or photo or meme is passed on four different times, then (at least in theory) these parasites could sue each one of you for thirty grand.

Maybe I need to change careers; think Harvard or Stanford or Yale would accept a 62 year old first year law student?

Hmmm...then the site I get them from would be just as guilty too!
I'll have to look into that and I'll try to keep abreast of this legislation...thanks for the heads up.

OUC, it sickens me to share this with you and the group. Seeing what you've put together each week is one of my favorite things to do. But if what is described below becomes law, it will mean the end of them.

I feel bad about being a downer to the Gulch, but I REALLY wouldn't want you to be blindsided by a $30,000 judgment for copyright infringement for every meme you post.

If this thing doesn't become law, then I'm playing Chicken Little. I can live with that. But if it does, you'd be risking financial ruin just to add some sunshine to the world.

This is the first part of the article from The American Mirror:

'A bi-partisan bill working its way through Congress could drastically change how copyright claims are processed, and would create a system to impose up to $30,000 in fines on anyone who shares protected material online.

In other words, the Congress wants to make it easier to sue people who send a meme or post images that they didn’t create themselves, essentially a giveaway to lawyers who sue unsuspecting suckers for a living.

The Senate Judiciary Committee last week approved the “Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act of 2019,” which "creates a voluntary small claims board within the Copyright Office that will provide copyright owners with an alternative to the expensive process of bringing copyright claims, including infringement and misrepresentation …. in federal court,” according to the Copyright Alliance.

“This new board, called the Copyright Claims Board (CCB), would allow recovery in each case of up to $30,000 in damages total, with a cap of $15,000 in statutory damages per work infringed,” according to the alliance, an advocacy group for the copyright industry.
Critics contend the CCB created would essentially provide a way for copyright trolls to target individuals or small businesses to secure five-figure default judgments for innocent mistakes. Put another way, someone who shares memes they didn’t make could be on the hook for $30,000 in fines from folks who make a living from copyright lawsuits.'

Thank you Carl. AOC and the alligators .... I am so glad that I had set the coffee cup down before clicking that. The assembly of soy-boys brought a grimace along with the sad state of affairs seen after only two generations in terms of the first words spoken as Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. Cheers to continued meme sharing.

Wow, I somehow missed the Amazon river one.

But I'm not ashamed that I wondered if it was something she said, because ... well let us just say it wouldn't be out of character.

I'd totally buy that hat though.

Wonderful as always. In this uber-PC day and age, the NASA moon landing is probably pretty close to the truth.

No idea what is the matter with me, but the first few offerings you sent up, I skipped because "who has time for that....?" Well, just to let you know, I caved once and "made time for that," and so glad I did! I'll never skip another, that's for sure, especially since that gem the Twitter laser pointer/cat showed up. I LOVE that one. Thanks for posting these!

The one I laughed at the loudest wasn't political at all. It was what the old lady said about her hubby's underwear. Afraid the squad would want that Jihad Squad meme as a movie poster for it going to whatever is in their heads. I want that cap Trump is wearing. Looked at the moon landing meme and said but one word and that word was "Typical." The monkey butts made me say "Ouch." Really like the Republican woman packing heat with a reference to whatever is PC about what a Democrat may be packing. Right, Michel? Or is it Michael today?
