Is $3,800 per linear foot a reasonable cost to build a wall?

According to recent funding announcements $1 billion is being allocated for a 50 mile section of wall on the US-Mexico border.
On that budget, it would cost $3 million to fence in a one acre lot.

Costs varies with location. DoD just announced they were using $1.5B to build 400 miles of wall. No idea if they are using same or different vendors from the cost you are quoting.

My house is 6800 square feet and valued at $640,000 so that would be a bit over $91 but why are we comparing houses and barricades? My house is almost 60 years old.

I paid between $160 and $200 per sq ft for my house depending upon how you want to measure the square footage.
Given the way DoD tracks expendatures and allocation of Overhead costs $3,800 appears to be correct. amount. When they allocated funds like this all related expenses (personnel, transportation, etc. are allocated to the project. So it does not surprise me that it is this high per linear foot. If there are land acquisition costs these get rolled in also. I I can find the actual breakout of the funds by category I'll post that so we can see just how the expense was arrived at.

If the wall is climate controlled, has bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, hardwood floors, imported Italian tile, R-30 insulation, Andersen windows, and landscaped grounds, then perhaps the cost of your house could be considered for comparison.
But your house did include land and transportation costs, so there are some things in common.
I doubt anything you find in the government funding detail will resemble something any rational person would consider reasonable.

Just a few dirty surplus nukes exploded on the border would force immigrants to change routing and solve much of the immigration problem.

Nukes on the Border isn't an acceptable solution! That's a tiny bit overkill! I understand your feelings, being a Texan living very near the Border. I do like the idea of no Asylum unless they go through our Embassy in their countries! That gives me hope.

It's great to give burns and cancer to immigrants but it would have to be in place far from Americans. I've heard radiation can travel for a hundred miles depending on what kind it is.
