Several sources (Fox News, The Hill, other news outlets) are reporting polling results that indicate approcimately 40% of Americans think Socialism is a good thing [my phrasing.
the base statement of this is : there are 40% oa the people who thnk it is OK for the government to take ownership of productions means and give the output to people who can't or won't pay for the goods. They think private property rights don't or should not exist.
this is very disturbing.
Unfortunately I see this trend continuing. As politicians promise more "Free Stuff" more people will sign up for it. As Objectivists and "followers" of Ayn Rand we need to speak up more and louder than before. We need to point out the falicy of this odius philosophy and econominc system. We need to take every opportunity to speak out and educate people.
I don't mind assisting people who need help. I do mind being forced to do so via socialism.

History has shown time and time again, between government and businesses, which is more effective at producing things people actually want. Then of course there’s all those deaths we shouldn’t just forget about.

“When government is big, people become small.”

our last statement (When Government is big, people are small) is one of several reasons for the Bill of Rights, in particular the 2nd amendment. also for the first and 4th and 5th. These are key to the people maintaining their rights.
So,me argue they are PRIVELEGES like a Drivers license. They are not they are not granted by the goverrrnment but established by and for the people as a union.
Not said well here but I think you all know what I'm talking about. They are not given by the government

It is very disturbing. I think it's a real problem, not just the result of how the questions are asked. I agree completely for the need to point out the fallacies used to support socialism. The other side of that is to point out the positives of capitalism, both for the world economy and individuals and their decisions.

It would be interesting if the survey question asked people some basic facts about capitalism. Does capitalism generally mean the government gives tax dollars to politically-connected companies? Is capitalism more accepting of physical violence against citizens? In capitalism, are they more barriers to workers changing jobs? Does capitalism say caveat emptor means it's okay to lie to customers to get their money? True or false: Capitalism sees theft and anti-theft security devices as being of equal value in a marketplace. True or false: Capitalism accepts and even values behavior that's crass, sexist, racist, homophobic, and mean-spirited provided it promotes consumption? Does capitalism promote consumption for its own sake, even if there's no human enjoyment?

I suspect most people are against capitalism do not understand the meaning of the word.
