Well, I'm not very surprised. Neither do I blame them. From what I understand, colleges teach people to be Communists and insult businesses. So why in the name of H*** should business want to finance them?!

It's okay that you personally missed, or mis-heard it. Politics is so dense, arguable, and confusing anymore that I can hardly even keep tract of what I know or don;t know. It's not okay that someone's representative's in congress was pointing accusation type questions at these bankers, and not knowing herself that they were not even in the business of student loans for the last 10 or so years. She is an embarrassment to our system. The unfortunate part, and the one that can take this country down, is that the people of her district keep her in that position by re-electing her, she is not the only one either. And this issue is not even half as important as some of the other issues she has screwed up.

It is high time that the academic world got shut off from the teat of The State Science Institute. Right now the reward system for professors is all about how much milk they can drink from The State Science Institute (or is it "How much blood can they suck from The State Science Institute?").

I hope the President, and others, strongly emphasize the alternative of vocational training, as we do have a shortage of a variety of craftspeople. The pay for vocational skills is good, and certainly beats having a worthless humanities degree with a heavy loan that you can't get rid of flipping burgers.

The academic world may not like it, but universities may be forced to give students a perspective on their employability that comes with a type of study. When a student learns that they have a low prospect of a job with their gender studies degree, universities my have to close departments.

Too many people want "free college". They just don't get value for value exchange. They also have no idea how much of their tax money (and our tax money) goes to support their state institutions (i.e. my competition!).

I shouldn't complain because I did choose this as my shrug job, and a very good one it is, but many days I feel like Quentin Daniels.

I hope "free college" comes up as a discussion point when Comrade Bernie Sanders has a town hall on FoxNews tonight on April 15! Think of the irony! If only I could stand up in that town hall and have my John Galt moment!!!

I suspect a policy to address student loan burdens will be part of Trump's reelection campaign. He has said he wants to help lift that load. There are definitely many wealthy universities that could be supporting student loans, so I suspect Trump is considering a carrot/stick plan to induce those institutions to bear the burden.

The Gov took over the student loans as part of ObamaCare. Yes, ObamaCare, that behemouth fiasco that lined the pockets of democrat political supporters with all their dreams will continue to reveal itself. Remember Polosi said: you have to pass it first in order to find out what's in it... Well, they are still reading 8 years later. The only thing that has changed is the removal of the IRS penalty for not carrying insurance. The other thousands of pages have not been changed as I recall.

Repealing Obama's executive order regarding the government takeover of the student loan sector ought to have been done by Trump already.

A couple of prospective students and their families and I have had discussions recently about how the universities ought to be the ones making the loans to their prospective students.

Remind her she can go to work for a 501(c)3 and get debt relief from the Government. I had a girl who got $50K off her loans. She was a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Well advise her she can go to work, for pay, at a 501(c)3 and they will repay a great deal of her loan. I had a girl who got $50K off her loans. She was a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I hear it correctly last evening on Fox news. I recorded it! My son's college loan was from a private institution, but that was several years ago. I wonder what is going on. How recent was your daughter's loan?

I don't think you heard incorrectly. My daughter has two college loads. One is from a lrge private bank the other from the government. Had to go to government because no privet bank giving loan. Not sure if that was just the school she was at or nation wide but I do know she had to go Government.
