Kindly Implement No-Editing-Post-Reply

As a long-time participant in forums, I've identified a must-have feature for integrity's sake: editing closed once reply has been made. Forums without this can go real bad, real fast.

    Have you guys seen any issues yet? Not that we're not going to address it - we've talked about it internally and we're leaning towards a time limit. I'm curious though if something's happened already.

      What I mean by integrity is that not only does one demean one's own integrity by doctoring up a post once another has replied, but the site's. Everyone sleeps better if the temptation is removed. P.S. Futhermore, quotes that don't jibe with what the one quoted says cause confusion, and might as well be avoided. To expand on this, I should say that post deletion also falls under the category of post editing. It appears (although I haven't tested this) the forum's post/reply is parent/child as far as deletability, but just in case.

    I've commented on a site which permitted neither editing, nor deletion -- one may always simply create an additional comment. Concerning problems -- DISHONESTY creates many more problems than already discussed; dishonesty is the real agent of confusion .
    (I'm NOT implying that I've seen dishonesty here -- however, I have not read all, here.)
    I just now used "Edit" -- but I could have simply created an additional comment .

      Right. We're leaning right now towards a 3-5 minute edit window, to allow for spelling/grammer edits, with a mandatory "reason" field. We'll have something implemented soon. Stay tuned.
