“In a blog post posted Friday, YouTube said it will begin to reduce recommending "borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways — such as videos promoting a phony miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat, or making blatantly false claims about historic events like 9/11."

The most high-profile conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones, was banned by YouTube in 2018, along with Apple, Stitcher, Facebook and others over concerns about his content, including videos that questioned whether the killings at Sandy Hook were real.”

    It would seem to me that all these high valued social media sites becoming advocates for a specific philosophy rather than a platform for everyone presents a wonderful opportunity for someone to make a fortune.

    Instead of advocating for the government to regulate them as some have done, start competitive sites. Welcome those and other videos. Nothing says that people have to use the Youtube platform. Probably have to work around some patents but "there's gold in them there hills".

    You tube is making it very difficult for many video reports. I find the orators spell out certain words instead of saying them. So their videos aren’t banned . Same thing happens with the “Wrong” words in a title. Hate speech is another subjective
    Criteria to be banned . You know like MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

      I wonder sometimes why the people we have been following on youtube have yet to be band while, total idiots continue on.
      I suppose we have to be grateful and support those that are still creating value.

        Yes.what I see is most have been having to deal with a variety of issues from tech to censure ship.
        From what I can tell is YouTube uses AI with algorithms to find keywords among other things.
        Live broadcasts are often delayed for many hours before the creator can post it. Project Weeping Angel has been banned but now she can be accessed by project weeping Angel II . She also has Roman Numeral III as a next backup.
        Redpill78 has had a lot of pressure needing to alter or edit varied aspects of his broadcasts.

      It is currently a very sensitive issue what happened at Covington.

      The left has its version which is false, but YouTube would never admit it backs that version.

    So, they will censor what the the left does not want us to discuss, like weather true science. Yet, they continued to let "Rape the Baby" play on for months, even though the singer spoke out in facor of pedophilia, like Congress. I never did trust Facebook, but found YouTube a good 'how to" site, but found it ignoring liberal misinformation, while banning any conspiracy, aka: truth, entries. A guest on Levine a few weeks back said Google and these limiting sites will go down and be insignificant in a few years. I hope so, otherwise we will have to have moe conservative based sites to discuss the real science and truth.

    Too bad. This leaves room for a competing MeTube that doesnt censor. I like YouTube specifically because I can get alternative views.

    Check out "free power" videos showing how you supposedly can get free power out of thin air. Its BS, but very intriguing anyway. There is no such thing as free energy , but I could see YouTube removing these videos also. Where would it end once censorship is begun...

      Do you agree that YouTube should censor by taking down any copyright protected videos where permission has not been given such as sports, TV news, movies, etc? YouTube does not just have self produced videos that are uploaded. As it is, the copyright holder seems to have to threaten legal action to have such material removed.

        I have to say that I can see prosecuting a person who violates a copyright, but I cant see prosecuting something like YouTube, facebook, etc. Once these outlets start the censoring process for any reason, its a slippery slope. What about removing "micro aggression" videos when some leftist gets "offended"? Once you start censoring, it becomes a power to be exercised by some clerks with their own agendas. I would think that whatever penalties that accrued to a person violating copyrights would be some sort of function of how widely they were violated. Therefore, a person putting something on YouTube would need to assess how big a penalty he or she would get IF a lawsuit was started ..
