This is more applicable today, than it was 2 years ago, whoever posted it (LibertyPen). But the clip is very powerful given the bleating we hear from the likes of Ocasio Cortez, Schumer, and Pelosi.

Yes, the film gave only a very approximate idea of what the book was about.

The reason I am always skeptical about novel to film conversion is precisely that: reading a novel, especially one as chiseled and magnificent as AR's Atlas Shrugged would challenge even the most talented director. There is no way to translate the effect the novel impacts on you to the screen. The characters, the images, the message are formulated on a very personal level so seeing the work on the screen becomes a great disappointment.

Which is always the case, I might add. I can remember only one instance when the film was better than the novel, in my lifetime.

Having said that, I am glad they made the film. Many scenes came through well and edged into memory, such as the first ride on the new Rearden metal tracks, the scene of Galt's Gulch community in Colorado (I found the location which was first explored by AR and her husband before the film was shot), or the meeting between Galt and Thompson when the latter offers him the position of Economic Dictator.

I wonder how many in Congress ever read the book? I would make it mandatory reading for every newly minted Congressperson and Senator.

In the book, the fate of Eddie is left as dire.
That actor in Part III was in fact quite good, as an actor, but I agree- totally mis-cast.

My vision of the Atlas Shrugged book is far different as well. Having the different actors for the characters didn’t help. I am glad They trudged through the production..

I don't want to be a pooper but AS part !! was the worst IMO.

The creators of the AS novel to film had to do 3 installments, for lack of funds or whatever reason.

Meaning that the main characters were played by different actors in the three sequels as everyone knows.

Part II was the worst for the character of Dagny. The woman playing her (never heard of her) is so off beat that is gets painful.

Rearden is good, the only reason the film should be watched.

IMO Part III was the most acceptable with the exception of the geriatric actor playing Francisco.

They changed the script: Eddy was not part of the rescue operation for Galt: he died in his loyal effort trying to save the last Taggart train.

Yes, not unlikely, worse than that. Rearden is of course a hero, not a depiction of life as we know it, but as it could and should be.

Nice clip. ..great way to start the morning. A reminder that there are principles worth defending even if you have to stand alone.

Yes, I know that scene from the film.

It is unlikely to happen these days. I don't know of any company today who would put up the resistance as Rearden did to the government. They are all headed by people in the pocket of the left.

Having said that, I was forced to see idiots like Williams and Beckel again in this video whom I NEVER watch.

FOX employs them to show they are "balanced". I can't believe anyone wants to listen to them. If I wanted to hear nonsense they parrot, I'd go to CNN.

In that world people wave signs saying, “We are the 99.98%”
Looks like equality of outcome is almost achieved.
