Oregon prepares to tackle a 'cap and trade' bill

The deep state just does not stop. One wonders where all the looted money goes to from all these "save the whales" taxes, fees and fines. Maybe that is how they finance all their caravans, and buy off elections, and their other programs, because they sure are not saving any whales, global warming, or any other facetious claims...

Idiots. We can't predict the daily weather accurately, but we want to control it by feather strokes. When we figure out how to control the sun- the main contributor to weather by thousands measures- then we'll have something to talk about. Everything else is nominal commentaries by money grabbing, alarming global warming cabal.

We know how well Oregonian efforts succeed in manipulating business and technology. Recall Cover Oregon, which burned through multi-hundreds of millions of dollars, unable to set up a website to handle the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

If you want to control CO2, a free market is the way to go. This is only halfway there. Seems much easier to tax the fuel, but that passes the cost to the ... consumers?! What? We have to pay for this? No way! Companies must pay, not us!

It's interesting the number of liberals I've argued with who talk about how bad the pipelines are (that may actually BE Russian propaganda). When I say that the companies should have to pay to clean up the mess because that's one of the costs of producing and transporting the goods and that they would then pass on the cost to consumers they are outraged that consumers should have to pay for the spill. Companies are evil and consumers shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes.

But they are perfectly happy raising the tax on the product so that consumers would pay and be discouraged from using it. Because government isn't trying to make a profit.

One way to tackle the pipeline spill problem is to require the mid-stream companies to purchase hazard insurance to pay for spills. Given that pipeline spills are actually very infrequent, insurance cost should be very low, considering the favorable risk. The cost of insurance premiums would still be passed on to the consumer, but it would show that the overseers of the pipelines are being responsible. Insurance companies would also pressure the pipeline owners to institute best practices to prevent spills, offering lower premiums to those who take the best care.

I suspect they actually do. I do know that Exxon purchased insurance for the Exxon-Valdez oil spill after the fact. Yes, you can buy insurance against something that has already happened!

In essence they paid the estimated cost of the cleanup as a premium with some extra for risk and profit to the insurance company. In return they got to remove the item from their balance sheet as a potential risk.

The premise that this is Russian propaganda is very interesting. I had never considered it, but among things that motivate Russia, little is more important than the price of oil and gas.

I have long believed that the strongest reason for renewable energy and energy independent (e.g. nuclear) is for national security, NOT the environment. This may be a less expensive method than military spending. Taking away the financial lifeblood of these backwards countries with no value to add besides oil is the fastest way to make them irrelevant.

For those in Oregon...be prepared to loose a lot of property to a loosing proposition.

What trees are left will starve from a carbon deficit and the people to a lack of oxygen, not to mention, green backs in their wallet and likely to illegal wet backs as well.

To a whole lot more of facetious claims with nice sounding names.

I just get a kick out of sheeple who think that by killing 87 billion in economy, 25 billion in taxes, and several major energy projects through 'protests and lawsuits" all to try to keep the U.S. needing foreign energy sources, for the deep state, they are "saving the world". While Al "Liar" Gore rides around in his jet, behind his secure walls, generating more CO2 than any family with his huge entourage, and he is their hero. Talk about a lack of "critical thinking" skills..The Grand Solar Minimum will quickly extinguish things, but not before they get their theft and looting programs in place...I hope, I hope for indictments next year...

More likely than roads without smokestacks, they will see lots of homeless freezing to death as the environment and the sun that controls climate ignores human actions as it has for centuries.
But that is after the next several elections and the lying statist meddlers will have made their undeserved, unearned fortunes and be enjoying their warm mansions heated with hydrocarbon fuels.

Naturally the Republicans compromise and give away individual liberty and assets of those who are productive. No integrity, no ethics, no conscience, no guilt of their role in destroying American liberty and free market culture that created the prosperity that politicians loot.

Indeed, it is amazing how people so "concerned" with some issues, just blow smoke and then engage in the same stuff, like Gore and all his hydrocarbon use for jet, big vehicles etc... Yet sheeple cannot put 2 and 2 together to see what a lie it all is to just loot and scoot...Oregon is really bad and is rapidly becoming the next Kalifornia...

Sounds a lot like Prohibition and we know how well that worked. Perhaps Big Oil should just decide not to do any business in Oregon. That includes all products made from crude oil.

It's not just Oregon, it is in almost all Democratic controlled states, and countires run by Liberals in some form or another. No one ever mentions where what may be trillions in looting is going, just that they are punishment taxes to impose their world changing view on us, which is pure hogwash. No doubt how the deep state funds itself...

I think Trump should put up the wall around Calif, Oregon, and Washington, and let them float free with whatever laws they want.

That Washington Wall should cut through the Cascades. Most of the folks on the eastern side of the mountains maintain some semblance of common sense.

Now wait a minute, there is still a minority of us on the left side of the mountains. It's just all the PERS retirees and liberal bloodsuckers who live in Washington and Mulhtnoma Counties that rule the damn staste (and Corvallis and Bend too).I have yet to figure out if the corrupted the vote by mail system or just fake the numbers, but there are way too many "idiot voters" vs people who scream about getting raped in the wallet, to be legitimate.

This is the problem with how to physically divide up an intellectually divided country. Someone's ox is going to get gored, no matter where the dividing line is.

I do think that wwe are headed for a civil war, either peaceful or not so peaceful. I, for one, am very tired of the leftists forcing me to do this and that. Its time to revolt , which we did with Trump, but the leftists are hell bent on stopping that train dead in its tracks. I am getting pretty much DONE with collectivism. I think I understand too well Ragnar's position in AS.

I was never even remotely entertained by the idea of collectivism, it is human nature to take others people stuff whenever you can, the bigger the group, the more they take, culminating in the socialist state. I have never seen one yet that works. Its all a great idea, but it never works, greed is too strong. War Drummer FB page has a thread on gas prices, 1.90 or so in Midwest, 3.50 in Kalifornia, 3.00 in Oregon, the difference being their "socialism factor", the higher it is, the higher the prices, because the differences is all taxes.

Thanks for the clarification ... indeed, I have discovered that Bend is also a liberal enclave. I hope that you are doing whatever you can to ensure that your voice for common sense is at least heard at some level. I do what I can to back libertarian candidates in my own city. I tried running for Council and for the Planning Committee but after five years of repeated efforts, I said enough. All the best in preserving some measure of local sanity.

Yes, their grip on power is solid, and both parties cooperate to maintain it, I think the "differences" between them are all part of their smoke and mirrors, dumbocraps and republicrats are all the same.

Every once in awhile, there is a glimmer of hope ...
Years ago, I was researching a piece of property in the country, about two miles from where I currently live -- both as an investment, and a place to build a home. At any rate, about 50 percent of the property was located at an elevation (part of a hill) that was labeled Public Preserve. I inquired as to the meaning of this zoning designation -- I could not get a clear definition ... something about the land being preserved for the Public Good (yeah, as though lifted from the pages of Atlas Shrugged). Fast forward to just 12 months ago ... the City Planning committee is meeting and I happen to be in attendance. I notice that the green color on the map is gone -- as is the reference to Public Preserve. I then find out that one of the main City Planners had worked to eliminate that designation since it was an unfair burden on the property owners ... essentially being a form of theft (my word, not his). Now my acreage no longer has that horrible green color on the map at the elevation / hill. I can essentially do what I want with it under the current zoning for residential development. Long story short, there are still some people working in government that are really working on behalf of the people ... meaning ... the individual property owners.
