These words do not mean what a dictionary may say they mean. They do not have meaning but function, the function (i) is to offend, to show that the speaker does not care about you. It can sometimes (ii) show anger that the speaker cannot put into words as they have poor vocabulary.
When in the presence of a child, show your disapproval according to how you interpret what is happening.

The uncivilized may/should be called out for their uncivilized behavior. Unfortunately, when it is on TV, it is difficult to respond in a direct manner.

I have no adequate solution. I personally don't watch TV. Or, change the channel perhaps.

Because the left is taking over our culture, the unacceptable has become acceptable. What I used to tell my grandchildren when they were small is that those words were stupid and if you didn't want to be thought of as being stupid yourself, you should avoid using them. When they got older the discussion became more sophisticated. They're all adults now and my grandson, age 24, caught me saying an obscene limerick and reprimanded me with "I think that's stupid.". .

This, and worse threatening to come was prefaced with the demand to drop "morality" laws back in the 1960s. First went the obscenity laws, declared to be a violation of the 1st amendment, followed in quick succession by forcing states to drop laws against fornication (by minors, and adults outside of marriage) and sodomy (aimed primarily against homosexual encounters).

We reap what we sow. Today there are moves to seek legalization of incest and pedophilia. You would think that membership in an organization called the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) would be a criminal offense, but instead NAMBLA is a leader in the call to decriminalize adult sex with minors of both sexes.

Theft is also becoming acceptable, with the city of Austin declaring that theft of another's property valued less than $1,000 would no longer be pursued by their police. While some would think this was a cost saving measure, the reality, expressed by the councilwoman who introduced it, was a sympathy for "those so poor they resort to theft." The implication is that those who are well enough off to be able to acquire property legally have no right to it. I'm waiting for the first shooting of a thief to happen when people realize the law isn't on their side.

What happened that brought about this insanity that does not reflect the values of a majority of Americans was that we became lazy and content, while the crazies became active and aggressive. None of these changes were the direct result of popular vote, but were the product of activist judges and immoral legislators. If we want to change these destructive situations, we need to elect those who truly represent our views.

As a society, we have become lazy. What we don't actively shun becomes the norm. Vulgar AND criminal behavior is much easier to ignore than to admonish or punish. You can see this in our government institutions. It's much easier to join the criminals than to prosecute them. Consequently, because we are all human, the behavior will gradually increase.

What channel/station was this on? Unless I'm looking at a movie channel, I still see things being bleeped or muffled.

As for seeing things, I'm seeing the middle finger more~such as during a Walking Dead episode.

Remember that half the country is liberal and they use that word ALL the time. Hollywood panders to liberalism, so they use it all the time.

We deplorables have the choice to just not watch, which is what I do. CNN? I dont even know which channel that is, nor do I know how to find the networks such as MSNBC and the other liberal channels. I used to watch FOX, but since they got rid of the good people and replaced them with airhead eye candy, high-heeled bimbos tht are "fair and balanced" (meaning pandering to liberal nonsense), I watch less of it now too.

Most NEWS doesnt affect my life at all, and just wastes my time here on earth.

We used to have standards fro public broadcast, now we have minor kids have gay relationships on network TV. We used to have fairness, where both sides were heard on public broadcasts. Now we have total filth and endless rants by braneless liberals, calling for someones death almost daily. This is not free speech, this is indoctrination and agitation. Now, we have Soros and Google working to try to shut down discussions on climate change, branding any opposition as dangerous. This is what Hillary, the crook, promisedduring her rallies, but I thought she lots that one. We do not have free speech, we have free speech as much as in Orwell's "1984"

What should be recognized is that Speech is only protected by the First Amendment when it is expressive of a viewpoint - the vulgar is not protected speech. The FCC can audit vulgarity on the airwaves as a result of public accommodation. They can not audit vulgarity on cable because it is a private accommodation.

In either event, I consider those who use vulgarity - especially just for shock factor - to be crude and animalistic - far below the status of their human potential. Humans using reason express themselves clearly and with concern for understanding. Choosing to use foul language in my mind is the result of someone with a lack of vocabulary and communications skills.

I used to think that it was good to leave it so that people would see just how depraved they are and how low these crazy people have sunk. And then I discovered instead that people are JOINING them!

The problem, though, isn't that free speech exists, but that people have lost their ability to discern the good from the bad....and then of their own accord, to punish the bad by not giving them what they want....an audience.

It reinforces their view. Ratings. They, the media, believe "you" need to be educated. Ratings
