Im a 38 year young Scandinavian who happens to be a big fan of Ayn Rands Ideas and like wise ideas.
I believe in self ownership and we all was born with some indisputable properties.
We all have the gift to create, yet some does really think they have the right to take from others, either by voting for taxes or to out right steal it.
They have no right, because that would really be the same as owning me, and I despise the idea that i should be someone elses property.
I belive that everyone Own their own body, their mind, their time and their freedom.
No individual group or organisation has any right to claim this or anything there of.
We are all creators and we do not beg for work, we create it by the gift of value we give to others to receive something else that means more to us than we created for someone else.
And if someone feels that they do have a claim against me for this. then bring it on.
I agree with Agnes Taggart in the movie, that we really need to fight this.
We should fight it by spreading knowledge, not by going on strike, because that will not serve anyone anything.
What i have done before, can not measure what I am trying to do today.
I was once a collectivist, but know i am an individualist.
Trying to get my self heard in the wast sea of reason and meanings.
Just trying to get people to listen for a second, what i have to say.

Liam - my article about Nordic socialism is complete and it includes a quote from you. Let me know if you're checking into this forum. I'll start a discussion with it in this forum, and you'll be able to find it at www.centerforindividualism.org sometime next week.

Hi Mark.
I have read your article at centerforidividualism.org and I think it was great.
It does describe our situation relatively well.
I did see you cut something out of my quote, but still managed to get the essence from it well.

Hi Liam, great to hear from you and very happy you like the article. Yes, as I recall I shortened it. Even then it was a little long but hopefully captured the most important messages. All the best, Mark

Welcome Liam.
It is good to get a non-US view.

Here, in Australia, we used to call that thing the Swedish model because it appeared to work.
Yes socialism (or the new variation of gov. control without ownership) does work as intended, but for how long?
With open, careful and responsible countries and governments the down turn can take decades, then it accelerates down. In the case of the nation described in AS, it took a year or two. For Venezuela the drop took a few days.

Welcome to the Gulch Liam! As a Scandinavian I'd love to get your take on the propaganda being spread here in America about the "miracle of Scandinavian socialism." To me, it's a myth being spread by an organized socialist media campaign.

There is a miss conception in believing that Scandinavian is socialist.
Neither Norway, Sweden or Denmark has ever been Socialist.
No, those countries are capitalistic with a mixed market economy.
The only thing, is that we have social welfare system that we are seeing failing right now.
But to se its flaws you really have to see it up close.
Be aware that social on payer healthcare system and welfare will never work.
It is just like that communist theme. from each according to their abilities to each according to their needs.
There is a grim truth. that in Scandinavia we are not free.
Everything has to be registered by the state and to do business of any kind you need to ask permission and register by the state and pay i license and a fee.
And there are a lot of regulations.
Still they claim that We have a free non socialistic economy.
Well, it is practically regulated into a monopoly for a chosen few.
Still the countries are not yet socialistic by the governments definition.
The government of Norway are today on the right officially but still they play into the hands of the EU.
It looks social enough to me in all this but still it`s not. It is still a monster in between.
Yo can see more on how this works at The Capitalist Party of Norway.
We do work hard to get into the Norwegian parliament to stur it up a bit.
I see a lot of similarities in Norwegian economy to what is happening in Atlas Shrugged.
