All I did was fill out requisitions for parts needed by a satellite reconnaissance squadron, kept paper files in order, had fun when they decided to train me to also drive an deuce-and-a-half and I saved up a lot of money by mostly staying on base to watch a lot of movies for 25 cents a pop.

Nam wasn't even a blip on my radar when I enlisted in '61, with two buddies to keep out of further difficulty in home town. We were havin' too much fun at the time. Sub huntin' off the east coast and reserve trainin' in PacNW. Mostly just the attitude of the townies to deal with once in a great while.

I shortened my two years by two months with something called a "school cut." Used the GI Bill to go to college. Take that, Uncle Sam! Bwahaha!

I agree with nickursis. The voters of Chicago made their bed, so now they should sleep in it. No way should President Trump provide help (aka, money...aka our money) to solve a problem none of us created. Let whichever Illinois governor who in not serving hard time call out the State Police or his militia....or give the murderers time and they will solve the issue without our help.

I have 4 brothers and one is a Dem. It's amazing how the free flow of conversation becomes stifled when the lib is around such as during family reunions.

Me too, I ran rather than fought (in California that is, not in the other place). My point is that eventually we'll lose the whole country. Other places like Germany, perhaps even Australia will be first to go, especially if their governments, their leaders, and their media refuse to report the facts. We'll be dead, it really won't matter to us, therefor we still run. The younger generations will just have to figure it out for themselves.

My wife and I had our hearts broken the other day. We went up to see the kids and on their counter was a ballot for the local election. It was folded such that I could actually see our daughter-in-law had inked in for Senate the "D". My wife said don't touch it, don't say anything. I didn't, but it really hurt.

Trump help in Chicago? Absolutely not, the left will fight everything he attempts and make it much worse than it is. Then they will blame him for the whole issue from the day it started a long long time ago.

Trump's best action to actually help Chicago is to Tweet that all the leaders in the State can only make things worse, that's what they do. Perhaps challenge the people to demand that their leaders do something constructive or perhaps vote for and elect someone that will.

While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree with most of it. Refusing to help the "lib voting idiots" could/is resulting in more of the same stuff that just doesn't work. Also your comment is a retaliatory comment, something I find myself doing a lot more of these days, something libs and most of us will fight tooth and nail against.

And "keep your guns and yourself far away" can/will only result in the same kind of thing a certain people currently infiltrating many different countries are hoping for. It's similar to the plague.

Ignore them and they will multiply and take over geography belonging only to them. The problem is they are planning on and actually expanding their theories, archaic laws, and complete and total influence in the world. I hear about people leaving California, I did, when actually they should stay and fight. I didn't fight in California, I only fought in some far and distant land for some foreigners, but never really stood up for California or Chicago. We actually need a war against South Chicago and what's happening in California, etc. It seems it's the only thing the Deep State and the left understands, well maybe they'd understand.

It is not "gun violence" it is violence with guns perpetrated by certain individuals. Stopping the violence will require eliminating those individuals (either through terminating them or incarceration). Effective incarceration will require some changes in the law that would allow certain such individuals to be held completely incommunicado. Reinstating the death penalty might be stip one.
It is hard to believe that Emanuel is so incompetent, thus , one must ask if certain "leaders" within the Chicago government do not want the problem solved either being "on the take" or are genicidal thus, they allow the under world to run the city. Such should be learnable through a thorough Federal investigation -- the City could then be taken over by special masters of the federal courts and run like a real city and not like a third world country headed by a war lord. The corrupt city fathers could be held incommunicado along with the serial murders and violence pedlars.
Step two would be to encourage citizens to conceal and open carry and relax the laws to more easily allow self protection. It is obvious the police are not up to the task (and maybe should not be asked to do that at the neighborhood level). Someone pulls out a gun on the street to attack a child, the return fire should be so instantaneous and horrific that not even the stupidest gang banger would carry, let alone use a gun.
Finally the education system needs to be purged of union teachers. People who know how to do things and to teach replace them to teach the citizens of Chicago how to be successful (see Walter William; Thomas Sowell) that is the tenants of Christianity and the concept of Capitalism.
A final comment on Rahm's notice that the murder rate is down slightly. Maybe that is because anyone who can leave is or has left the city and state. If Chicago becomes small enough the number of murders WILL decline.

Actually, there was never a better example of what happens when an incapable lib takes over.It has now beaten out Detroit as such an example. When will the people wake up? Probably never. Sad. Mostly for the children growing up in such an environment..

Why do you rob banks? Because that's where the money is.
There are more drug addicts concentrated in CA so there are more criminals dealing drugs and who compete using firearms illegally. Maybe they find it easier to buy their guns from individuals who have them legally in surrounding states.
But the problem isn't the gun laws in surrounding states. It's the criminals in CA.
