These links were in this week's e-Sylum. The e-Sylum is a news and views email with about 5000 subscribers. It is hosted by the Numismatic Bibliomania Society. The NBS is for "coin collectors" with a special interest in the literature of the hobby, Their quarterly journal is The Asylum. The e-Sylum was launched in 1998. It is now re-posted by the American Numismatic Association to their members. While we all call it "coin collecting" numismatics is the art and science that studies the forms and uses of money. Therefore, reports and opinions in the e-Sylum cover a broad range of interests including these three this week:

VENEZUELA TO REMOVE 5 ZEROES FROM BOLIVAR

IRAN'S CURRENCY IN FREE FALL

(I found it interesting that the people on the street want US dollars. They are voting with their wallets.)

ZIMBABWEANS HUSTLING FOR CASH TO SURVIVE

(The use of "Eco-cash" on cell phones is interesting. With news like this, you have to ask yourself deeper questions, but the high margins indicate high risk or high demand.)

Yet still, your average American knows nothing of these places and their woes.

"But the Government can print money, they should help the people." "Budgets don't matter to a Government because we owe it to ourselves." "Money is what the Government has that they use to help people who need it, it isn't a liquid measure of value or some other Economic nonsense, what is wrong with you Greedy Racists?"
