The perfect society

In the perfect society everything is free to everyone. No one goes hungry and no one gets sick. Resources are unlimited because the universe is big and all the different dimensions and multi-verses are incalculably bigger. Any distance can be traveled to in an instant. There is no crime unsolved since anyone can point a simple device at anyone and read every thought they have ever had at any time. This device is also free to anyone. All knowledge ever known can be instantly transferred anyone at any time. Science is complete and everyone is working beyond mere science. Magic is real as well as spiritual power. Both are commonly used to harness the unlimited potential of supernatural realms to easily create something from nothing. Time travel is simply a recreational diversion. There is no pain, no unhappiness, no hurt feelings. No one ever says or does anything someone else doesn’t want. Oh, and everyone is immortal too.

(Did I miss something?)

    Thought provoking post Solver thanks.

Most of that is available every night whilst asleep
to anyone. It is the waking up that causes reality
    To set in.

In the scenario you are imagining emotions would be void no happy no sad. Having expirienced the greatest joys and the worst sorrows in these 60years. I believe that is what constitutes a life well lived. For instance would you ever ask someone "how are you doing?" Probably not in fact no question ever needs to be asked. It might be a lonely type of lifestyle . Just kind of contemplating the differences not knocking your fantasy. It is a very interesting contemplation but it might be kind of like a be careful what you wish for Kind of thing.

The flaw in your vision is the human animal. We are not angels, and the availability of anything we want can go in very undesirable directions. Remember the fate of the Krell, in Forbidden Planet?

      Not my vision.
Leftists want to change the biological human animal into what they believe it can be. Why else have such nonsense as identity politics. To them, how many will need to be sacrificed is not as important as reaching their goal.

Correction: the leftists' vision would require a universal lobotomy for peace to reign. However, since they seem to be pushing for a "free love" society, the lobotomy would kill unfettered libido, so they aren't likely to want to do that. It's much tougher to eliminate all who don't want their vision, without extreme violence.

For some reason, it brings to m ind the society of "1984" wit a mix of Sartre's "No Exit". I would likely be wanting some challenge or just a good argument in short order. Utopias don't exist, and maybe for good reason. Knowledge transferred to anyone, anytime" How about who determines its meaning? It's the quest which makes us who we ar, we would not be of our own making, it would be too easy.

Love your post, but I'll post a not-so-tongue-in-cheek version:

The perfect society is the society of perfect information and perfect rational thought, where human beings have learned to suborn their emotions to the control of reason. In such a society, everyone would think and act independently but predictably and they would work together to eliminate conflict.

Yeah, probably not going to happen, but we can all dream, right?

Sounds like the planet Vulcan. But then remember what happens when the urge to procreate comes into season.

One major difference: the Vulcans openly shunned emotion. They didn't seek to control it as much as eliminate it entirely. That's not what I am proposing. What I am proposing is the proper use of emotion: its control by logic. You can get angry, you just control your anger to do something constructive. You can get jealous of what someone else has - if it motivates you to work hard and get it yourself. Etc., etc., etc.

This must be the Global Marxist Utopia fantasy Progressives dream of some day end game obtaining.
It would likely be called something cool and Star Trekkie like The World Federation.
Having a device that reads every thought would be the primary controller for the elite more than equal ruling class.
This device would weed out those in need of some sort of futuristic mandatory temperament adjustment because everyone is supposed to be happy.
All Hail to The Federation! All Hail to Happiness! Group Think Is Good Think!

Yeah. The fact that a place like that would be no fun at all. No struggle, no accomplishment. Might as well be an unborn baby living permanently in the womb.--Yuckh!!!

It may just be a while until that Utopia can be accomplished. I note that your perfect society depends heavily on scientific progress, but then, seems to come to a point where science is no longer pursued. This may be a mistake. Also, your perfection depends on everyone being a good person. Valuing life and happiness over power, wealth and possessions. You gonna euthanize those who don't fit the mold? Your biggest stumbling block will be unkind mankind. The only guarantee will limit freedom which is an essential part of perfection. So, in order to achieve perfection, we must eliminate or tone emotion way down, eliminate curiosity and sacrifice fun and excitement for peace and tranquility.
