The Bad Guy at Parkland School

The shots ringing out came from the school!
Crack! Crack! Crack! Too many! Too fast to count!
Would Deputy Dawg be a doggone fool
To barrel in there on any account?

A shot, a death, a shot, a death? Not quite.
One girl’s slight body is riddled with nine;
Outside, Dawg can’t even count the shots right,
But now, he is forming the thin blue line!

He’s ducked down behind his patrol car door,
Ready to take on the desperado.
Reinforcements arrive as in Texas lore,
Four cops on the walls of the Alamo.

Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, and Jim Bowie
Have joined the watch for the onslaught now.
Their fingers on triggers are lightning quick,
When they see the whites of his eyes: pow! Pow!

The kid with his guns has done what he said,
Told five weeks ago to the FBI:
He’s got a nice score, seventeen dead,
Seems to know that and seems to know why.

Now, Nikolas Cruz is dropping his guns,
He’s lifting his hands, he has done enough.
Unarmed, he surrenders to Liberty’s sons.
Got him at last! Yes, they have the right stuff!

And over the graves, the self-righteous voice
Says nothing of evil, honor, or shame,
Nor any drama of choice against choice.
One actor alone: “Guns,” “guns” is the name.

Did this program and many like it cause the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"
Or was their ever good intentions in the first place?
The Obama-era Departments of Education and Justice – under education secretary Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder –issued school guidelines in 2014 that claimed students of color are “disproportionately impacted” by suspensions and expulsions, a situation they said leads to a “school-to-prison pipeline” that discriminates against minority and low-income students.

“Broward County was the first to have the goal of lowering suspensions, lowering expulsions, lowering arrests,” explains Eden. “And, so, they decided to reduce police involvement by not bringing in cops to arrest kids for a whole range of serious offenses, and then, as you would expect, the arrests go down when you stop arresting. That was taken to be a sign of success, based on that metric alone.”

According to the Obama administration’s 2014 “Dear Colleague” guidance, any school district whose disciplinary measures showed “disparate impact” – meaning a disproportionately greater number of minority students are affected – is open to investigation by the Departments of Justice and Education, regardless of whether the behavior leading to the discipline is unacceptable.

EVIL IDIOTS and useful IDIOTS and the result of no responsibility for behavior identity politics.
