In every cultural background there are sayings that we are familiar with.Some are rarer than others. Some, we grew up with and are as familiar as your mother's voice calling on the phone, at the most inconvenient time.In the following, I have put together some of both kinds. Running down the actual authors are often a chore and often a surprise.
