interesting opinion piece by Arthur Herman. I read his book,"Freedom's Forge: How American Business Produced Victory in World War II" (Random House May 2012). It was really good

Beneath the rhetoric about war is a really important point, that this is a battle over who gets the money, those who have earned it or government officials who seek to take it from them. It's because the debate is focused on the same modality since the beginning of human existence--the haves vs have-nots. The people in Washington think if they aren't the haves, they'll be oppressed, which means when they become the haves, they'll oppress the have-nots. It's a scary bit of twisted psychology.

I think this is why people like Glenn Beck encourage moving away from cities. I just see the looting being worse in large urban centers. This is kinda interesting. Note where Walmart has placed their distribution centers across the country. There are many reasons for the choices, but some should be on our minds in preparation for possible rioting and looting.

I haven't read this yet, but just based on your comment, I've been feeling a sense of disquiet about this society, and the direction it seems to be heading in. The storm is brewing, and those of us who can need to act fast before the serious looting starts.

This is pretty much what I see happening :( (I had a talk with a co worker, at my old job so it was like 12 years ago, about this very thing. Welfare is just to keep the mayhem at bay...but how long can we afford it?)
