interesting opinion piece by Arthur Herman. I read his book,"Freedom's Forge: How American Business Produced Victory in World War II" (Random House May 2012). It was really good
Where there are no family "trees", just family "sticks", as in no branches. Shared tooth for Saturday nights... From Pittsburgh originally, grew up and went to college in Virginia. Unfortunately, the folks in Richmond think the "wawah" is still on.
The pitchfork wielding, torch bearers slavering for a victim(s) have found their targets. Anyone who has what they don't. The true nightmare is on a roll. Constitution be damned.
also, in farm country, farmers have a huge government connection. so it will take longer than in other areas of the country. But it seems unusual to me that you say farm country and lots of parasites. I'm from Iowa, and the economy is booming there. It's as if a recession never happened. Food prices are up due to inflation and subsidies are stronger than ever. There are people on welfare everywhere, but I think the % is lower than many other places. I'm having a hard time imagining large pockets of multigenerational welfare families. I'm sure they exist, but it sure wasn't the thing to do where I grew up.
Not sure what you're saying. This is farm country, and lots of people still know how to garden, can, and process hogs, but when the checks slow down/stop the parasites will be on the hunt.
interesting. that is something you will have to consider. but before the govt slows and then stops payments altogether, the private sector businesses without govt connections will be mostly gone.
For the most part, I think GB is correct, but I live in a rural area that also has a large proportion of those multigeneration welfare families. I'm a little nervous.
About moving $$ offshore, I believe most banks (like the Caribbean) have a way high minimum amount before they accept money, if you choose to remain living in the U.S. You may want to check on that.
I see two very dangerous groups here. First is the multigeneration welfare people. They view the money as a right. Second is the OWS brats who never heard the word no. When the free money stops both these groups will get violent quickly.
Raid Walmart's ammo aisle, stock up on non perishables, fuel up the car, drain bank accts and move money offshore. Oh, and feed the cat. I had to put something goofy in there...
Y'all ever been in the South?
Yup. Been there, seen that.

Here's another point for you, my dear.
