Rand holds that your own happiness is the highest morality.

Heinlein holds that survival of the species, perhaps life itself, is the highest morality.

That was very good! The story of sacrifice at the end was good. I do not see a contradiction of consequence. Can one have true happiness coincidental with dishonor? without life? Is a life devoid of happiness, really a life? If you live, but are amoral can you be truly happy? How can one not live, and be amoral? It is a merry go round! :)

I thought I recognized the speech. Heinlein is probably my most favorite author. His writing manner is almost unmistakable. Once you have read him enough, he is on par with AR. If you decide to Galt, don't forget the lesson of "Farnham's Freehold". If you seek a saner form of government, take to heart the lessons of "Starship Troopers" and "The Moon is A Harsh Mistress".
