I have quite a bit of family still living in NY, I'm the odd ball. Several of my NY family have retired from public service and are drawing their pensions.
Oddly enough I saw a post from one that was imploring people in NY to not vote for or support the vote for a Constitutional Convention. Me being me, I had to ask.
As it turns out many local politicians from Cuomo down to the local level are telling the rank and file not to support NYs participation in the Constitutional Convention. Naturally, I asked why. Naturally, I received no rational answer.

Cuomo is pitching the seizure of all state pensions to balance the NY budget. I guess, this was not told to me, that Cuomo is the sort of political douche who is vindictive in his politics and would use pensions as leverage to assure compliance to his wishes. My family, trusting their local politicians "to do whats in their best interests" sides with Cuomo to enure their income, their pensions, continue as they have been.

I was dumbfounded by the audacity of pension seizure and people's readiness to comply with such a cocamemy scheme. Even if the pensions could balance the NY budget (I suspect it would make an impact, nothing more) that money still has to be returned back to the pension fund to ensure monthly disbursements. Unless NY has the money they are re-digging the same hole they had to steal from their pensioners but this time without any means to secure a loan. Am I missing something?

I really shouldn't be surprised since many of the NE states opposed the ratification of the Constitution to begin with, NY being among that group.

Its things like this that make me happy to be in Arizona.
