This was wonderful to read. This man knows what value is, and what it takes to earn something, for the right reasons. Impressive. I may have to hire him, as I can do a few if the things on the list, but not all. :-). Now give me a saw, or a paintbrush....

My bathtub stopped draining this weekend. Wasn't the catch or anything remotely close to the tub drain. It was a big fat hair ball right at the junction between the toilet and the tub. By the time I fished it out from the basement side, my hands were black and I was soaked in muck. Nasty job, but very satisfying in the end. I'm still a CIO, but he's right, it's just not the same- particularly when it's your own house you're fixing.

I don't see anything that would imply he's an Objectivist. Seems to me like he's just a fundamentalist blue collar Conservative.

      Let's see:

      Self employed, and self motivated.

Filters out who he wishes worthy to deal with, and doesn't apologize for this.

Promises a fair "value, for value" transaction.

Obviously comfortable with his values, and self, and immune to social prejudices.

      Conservative? Or Objectivist....

      I submit, 'both'!
