Starting a business

I am a believer. I read Atlas Shrugged and realized for the first time that all I wanted to do in life was become an entrepreneur. I wanted to create. I have come up with a bunch of ideas but nothing seems to be grabbing the attention of those around me. Is there a better way or should I just keep going? I am interested in hearing from those of you successful in business to hear how you did it. I am also really interested in hearing from those of you going through similar bouts of doubt in your journey to move the world.

My family runs a small retail store outside of Pittsburgh PA.. We enjoy coming to work everyday,we care about our customers and work extra hard to satisfy their needs. In a world where we are surrounded by Home Depot, Lowes ... we continue to thrive. If you like what you do it will show. Good luck,

Once you find an idea that YOU are truly passionate about, there will be very little standing in between you and bringing the idea to fruition.

    Step 1. Passion
    Step 2. See step 1

My advice would be to learn about running a business before you try to start one. Most business owners spend more time running their business than doing the work their business sells. Business plans, accounting, marketing, etc. are essential, but they're not as fun as, say, carpentry (if that's your gig). You can make the best chairs in the world, but if people don't know about them or if you can't keep the books balanced, you won't last long.
