Mysterious lights appear in Mexico sky during massive earthquake
There is a good video here showing purported "mystery lights", some are clearly (to me) transformers blowing) but the longer range ones may be sprites. Hard to tell, but similar things have been reported in many other earthquakes, even in very rural areas.
There was also a news helicopter airborne at the time which recorded lights rippling along all the hills.
I had thought people had come to terms with this being an established phenomena -- but apparently there are still questions.

It coincided with an class solar flare 19 strongest on record creating a geomagnetic storm.
As for the lights, I've heard transformers blow before~and sounding just like the reports heard in the video. Me dino can't explain the pretty colors.
OK, go buy a pack of wintergreen mints, stand in front of a mirror in a dark room, pop one in your mouth and bite down to observe the spark. If you don't like wintergreen, in the dark, just hold it in a set of needle nose pliers and crush it.
Pay dirt to the Mint . LoL
Had it here again with the 'Kaikoura' earthquake november14 last year, including in very remote areas up the coast.

PS. has been know to attract low pressure systems like Hurricanes!
My thought is that not only did the OLR's attract Katina but caused Erma's more westward track as well.
