What are you buying yourself "for Christmas"?

Friends, I'm interested in what you will choose to give to yourself if you buy "Christmas" or "New Year" gifts?
I've just bought book "The Torchlight List" by my inspirational Philosophy professor Jim Flynn (ok some time back). It is his list of 200 "books to love and learn from" and although Ms Rand doesn't feature, this book is a real treat-to-self.
I was buying 2 more copies of AS at the time.
And you? What have you earned that you will give to your self?

Last night when I was out for my evening walk some (homeless?) dude attempted to spit on me and then demanded my phone. I, of course, refused and skeedaddled the hell away from him (luckily) BUT I am now convinced to start carrying a small gun while I'm out walking. (Thanks to my husband who's been warning me about walking at night, then proceeded to riddle me with "what if ..." scenarios, which all ended with me dead in a ditch.) So I will be purchasing that for myself for Christmas. Ho Ho Ho! :)

Get training from someone you interview and trust, and try out pistols [I think ranges here in Colorado will rent] before you buy, and practice, practice, practice - the mechanics and the mindset. Read Paxton Quigley, Jeff Cooper and everybody else you can get your hands on. Did I say practice? Oh, wait. You do not, repeat not, want a "small' gun - less weight will transfer the recoil right to you. You want the biggest caliber gun you can reliably learn to shoot that will give you what is called a "one shot stop" .357, .45, 10mm, 9mm or .40 with the right ammo. I would be happy to advise you privately if you like - this is one of my passions.

Thanks, but I'm not new to shooting or guns :) Just don't have a tiny one....yet. I'm thinking of a Kel-Tec .380 with a permanent belt clip. I borrowed one from my neighbor just to see how comfortable it is and I liked it a lot.

I like the .380 myself [it's really comfortable to shoot, which equals more practice accomplished.] I load mine with Glasers - [ need to shoot those little devils up and get either some new ones or something else that increases stopping power.] Suggestions? Oh, and "tiny"? A friend owns a .45 derringer. It's adorable, and one of the bravest things I ever did was shoot it - the SECOND time. :)

Going to treat myself to finally getting my concealed carry permit and a new pistol.

Ha! I thought I'd do that a few years back so I picked up the forms. I was required to give my drivers license number, which I have no problem, and they they required my social security number. No effing way am I going to let the pigs climb up my a double s with a microscope, get my social security number, and them have me pay for the pleasure. I tore up the sh*t application. I carry concealed and they can stuff their permit.

I'm in the process of buying a new handgun, a Sig P220 to be exact. In addition, I'm splurging on the set of Public Choice Economics books written by James Buchanan. I might buy some more silver and gold, but I might wait until after the holidays.
