I brought cash paper-clipped in stacks of $1,000 each to a large dealer in my area. I do not know if they understood Objectivism, but they really understood cash. I would think a big company would know I could get a cashier's check easily and the money would be there's just the same, but seeing that cash really worked. I guess it showed them I was serious and meant to do the deal that day. He had gone back and talked to the manager and said the manager would only authorize down to a certain price. Clearly that was a lie because he agreed to a lower amount immediately when I literally placed that amount of cash on the table.

It feels like some kind of cheap stunt or something, but it really conveyed clearly that we were doing a trade that would benefit both of us.

I think it's partly because they know you're serious and part psychology. The same psychology is why I use cash. Money is an abstraction, and numbers in a bank account are a further layer of abstraction. If I'm on a trip and see the stack getting smaller, it gives me a more immediate visceral feeling for the amount of value I'm parting with. The person receiving the cash is similarly more aware. These cards and electronic transfers obscure from buyers and sellers the value really being exchanged. Cash is best.

      Thanks CircuitGuy-great points.

I'm hoping to support and give my business to a car dealer who understands and believes in Objectivism.

I'm tried of crony capitalism and most dealers in San Fran play that game.

Looking for a quality company to do business with

I think you need to add "practices' to your list - I have, unfortunately, met a number of people who [at least] say that they understand and believe....but do they practice it in their business life?
