We Are At War

I have an e-mail pal who is a journalist currently assigned to Paris. He got there to cover the terrorist attacks and it has become his beat. As part of a rather long e-mail he sent me the following which I have edited for brevity. It is a description of entering the American Embassy.: First, there are three checkpoints before entering the courtyard. Next come concrete caissons which are spaced five feet apart which is the first line of defense. Next are the French police, three pairs standing abreast of their squad cars which are parked directly before the Embassy gates. They all carry sub-machine guns.Next there is a watch house which is posted with a Marine security detachment. The streets are cordoned off for four blocks in every direction and there are snipers stationed on nearby rooftops. Now, who would like to tell me that we're not at war?

We being at war is a reason why I go about armed right here in a town called Pleasant Grove, Alabama.
The other reasons include run-of-the-mill criminals, crazy people and the Birmingham City Limits being less than 15 minutes away in some places.

Being armed is a good thing. Case in point is what Homeland Security Secretary, John Kelly said that he told Steve Doocy of Fox News. "If he knew what I know about terrorism, he'd never leave the house in the morning." But the mayor of New York and former Secretary of State, John Kerry say that we need to learn to live with terrorism...it's the new normal. Mmm, I wonder if that's why they have walls around their homes and lots of body guards. That's the difference between the Elites and the Little People.

I have my own way of living with terrorism.
The only bodyguard I can afford is the 9mm in my right front pocket.
Its easy to slip off holster kinda looks like a billfold at first.
Wonder why I thought that may be a good idea?

Due to neuropathy in my hands I must use a revolver. A snub 38 is not too intrusive. Being an old guy I always remember Charlie Chan when I say revolver because the actor who played him doing a so-called Chinese accent always pronounced it "rewalawa."

Use what you can use. What you can use is a lot better than empty hands.

Dang right, use the best tool you can for the job and buy the tool you like to carry with you. No tool does any good back at home in drawer when you're miles away in a store being robbed by a nut job.

My best advice for a bad guy is to leave old guys in wheelchairs alone, they may not have decades of life left, but theyare VERY intent on living them.

My power wheelchair back, neck and head rest are lined with 1/4" AR500 armor, enough to defeat any handgun round and most mid size rifle rounds. In addition to a 9mm pistol, in my belt (summer) or a 45cal 1911 shoulder rig (winter) there's another high cap pistol under my seat. A couple knives just might be found too, just for fun.

I would never never go looking for a fight, I'm a vet who has seen to much for such foolishness, but I am a vet who KNOW'S what might be required to win such an engagement. My intention is that if I ever find myself in that situation is to win and to be the guy to go home.

There is a variation on an old saying: "Never frighten an old man. He'll kill you."

Too tired to run, too much arthritis pain to fight, and the police will be too slow. I guess I'll just have to kill ya.

Dang Herb, I wish we didn't live so far apart. I'd bet we'd have a ball at the range, local gun shops and just generally carousing around together. Of course I'd have to be home by 8pm to get all my meds taken, and we'd need that noon time nap, but a hour or two gets me through the rest of the day. :)

                        Larry my man!
I can only go to the range with my walker. It has a built-in seat . You should see the looks I get at the range. If someone gives me the stink eye, I smile and say, "Don't tread on me." You illustrate one of the great faults of the internet, which is the friends we make we may never meet. I'm not supposed to drink alcohol, but I can nurse a beer all afternoon at the right kind of bar. Good to know a fellow geezer. I know of a few scattered around the Gulch, perhaps more than you'd imagine.

I want people like this living in my neighborhood-- not just armed, but experienced, not looking for a fight, but half-jokingly too old to put up with any violence from criminals.

In my own home, my defense against home invasion, or a bunch of BLM or Antifa idiots storming my home, is a .30-30 Winchester. It may not be concealable, but that's not an attribute I need in my own home. Plus, it has a lot more firepower, and I am a lot more confident of hitting what I'm aiming at with a rifle. With open sights, I don't have to worry about focusing a scope sight on a target less than 20 yards away. My handloads fire a 170 grain bullet at just over 2,000 ft/sec. Unlike what the idiot mayor of Baltimore thinks, MY property IS worth more than the life of some piece of scum trying to burn me down.

Big Thumbs Up Kevin!!! Your private property starts inside the sidewalk (depending on your zoning laws). If some self styled socialist decides he is a one man army empowered to take your stuff in order that everybody be equal.

Many countries dont even allow visitors to come in if they have a history of violence (even just dui) or lawlessness.

But we are supposed to allow Muslims in here who do NOT disavow those parts of Islam that profess to kill all infidels?? Thats just dumb, in my opinion.

Islam is at war with the unbelievers in Islam. Its a very violent and intolerant set of beliefs. Accept them OR you die. Its pretty clear in their "bible".

They need to stay where they are. I dont want muslims who believe, or even accept those tenets living around me. Got nothing to do with racism. Its purely a desire to feel safe. Muslims who want to be around me need to disavow the intolelerant and violent parts of Islam, PERIOD.

We are at war and the enemy has infiltrated the intelligence agency's and half of the congress.
We do not hold our politicians to the laws they create. Most of the education system and the media are complicit. See Dino's CNN Fake News post.
Not only have we been the target of Islamic attacks as is all of the so called western world.
We are shamed to accept all comers in the name of tolerance and diversity, never mind the cowardly murders of young girls at a concert in Manchester and the slashing of throats of any in striking distance in London. They attack Israel and use innocent human shields with the hope that those shields are killed to further their cause. The list goes on and on. Oh be sure you aren't a bigot
that is worse than killing randomly and subjecting women to Sharia Laws. Unfricking real.

More than half of the congress, the "supreme" court (their self definition, not mine), and every employee in every unconstitutional federal agency is complicit in the decline of the sovereign people to a status lower than that of the victors of the American revolution. All the "public servants" above should be treated as domestic enemies and traitors to individual liberty.

First is to leave the UN and kick their Kakistacratic out of NY. Next is no exemptions for foundations period and only charities unless they are thoroughly audited. A good start would be Lois Lerner ,Holder, the evil hag, Debbie Wasserman Schultz , Huma Abdin, Obama and the joint chiefs who allowed the dissection of the constitution every mayor or governor who give Safe space to illegal aliens
Kathleen Sebelius ,Podesto both Bushes, Cheney
Kissinger , Soros , the Ninth circuit wow once you get started weeding out the murderers and looters ......

And, you could include the 30% of government employees who do nothing but collect a paycheck and are protected by unions. They may not be terrorists but the money they suck out of the economy could be called treason.

My dear wife says that it was a JFK EO that allowed government employees to have unions. Another EO could undo that.

She also suggests government "turkey farms" to which unfireable employees could be promoted. Desk in a plain office building, perhaps somewhere in Lost Dakota or one of the Aleutian Islands. "Your job is to warm this chair. If you don't like it you can get a productive job elsewhere."

Of course we are. But, see the recent CNN video where they gather a certain group of people, hand them signs and tell them to stand in front of the camera...all to try to convince you and I that we are not at war.

When I saw that this morning I said, "We are going to lose this war." The enemy has infiltrated. My wife's family is French. I compare this to the Nazis having friendly visits with the French police and government officials to bribe them pre-invasion. That's why Hitler rolled in so easily. Just this Sunday my mother-in-law was telling me the story of her mother closing the drapes and turning off the lights as the Nazis marched past their home in the night. In the previous town they passed through they put all the men in the town in a barn and burned them all to death. She says she can still remember the smell of the flesh. My point is that I am sure the same approach has been done in Europe, and probably here in America. That's why we are told that a President's anti-terrorism tweet is more dangerous than a couple guys plowing their van into a crowd and then jumping out to slash the throats of the women and children. See how that works? It's a form of gas lighting. And, we're subjected to it every day because certain people have been bought off. Brilliant, really...

And every war is ultimately a war of ideology. WWII was an ideological war against National Socialism. Korea and Vietnam (and the Cold War) were ideological wars against Communism. The Iraq war was against a military dictatorship. Now we're at war with a violent religion. There will always be conflicts, but what must be realized is that all conflict originate with ideology. The military end comes when you are willing to kill others in the name of your ideology.

If someone professes to obey Islam, they ARE my enemy at this point. I AM a non believer, and it says right in their book that its OK to kill me. What else needs to be said?

I do believe we are at war as well and what we have seen is only the beginning. For some reason, I get the sneaking suspicion that were are slowly losing control of the situation. Many people don't realize how easy it is to cause a lot of damage, misery, and potential deaths in a northern country such as Canada. Ex: If we lose power and natural gas because a few key stations get decommissioned by rifle or explosives. Then the repair guys get shot at. No one wants to move. Look at the Washington sniper. Imagine this when the temperature is forecast to be -30 for a week or two. Think of the misery and frozen pipes. Are you prepared?

One of many problems is the media. They portray little suffering children, beheadings, etc. Of course, congress and the executive branch are compliant in this. So off we go, Mighty Mouse to save the day. Oh, we may twaddle around a bit, and negotiate this and that, but the reality is that we are going to spend lives and treasure for the benefit of what will become, with certain exceptions, ingrates.

I'm very happy that I live in the "State of Gun" and I conceal carry every time I leave the the house. The only draw back I live in a city of snowflakes and neo-luddites. When I do go out and see these neo-luddites in the market and elsewhere I think to myself that they wouldn't stand a chance in a violent situation. There is a large mosque in Phoenix but I have read or heard much about extremist there.

When traveling, local or out of state, seems a prudent person would have, in addition to their daily carry load out, a small go bag close to hand with a variant of the very reliable AR-7, 1000 rounds for it, along with a IIIa soft vest. When anyone would question the need, I would refer them to video from the Rodney King street riots and ask if they remember seeing violence minded punks doing the rioting in the name of BLM and other pro communist types.

This is in Paris, a supposedly friendly city. Imagine how it should have been in an unfriendly city like Bengazi. As opposed to what it must have been and who is to blame for the events that happened there.
