Maunder Minimum more confirmation from scientists.

Penn offered another, more catastrophic option: the sunspot cycle might die altogether. His team uses sunspot spectra to measure their magnetic fields, and his data show a clear trend: the magnetic field strength in sunspots is waning.

Sunspots' magnetic field
Penn's research shows that sunspots' magnetic field strength is declining over time. Sunspots can only form if the magnetic field is greater than around 1,500 Gauss, so if the trend continues, we could be headed for a time where no spots appear on the Sun's surface.
M. Penn
“If this trend continues, there will be almost no spots in Cycle 25, and we might be going into another Maunder Minimum,” Penn states. The first Maunder Minimum occurred during the second half of the 17th century. Almost no spots were seen on the Sun during this time, which coincided with Europe’s Little Ice Age.

When climate scientists are baffled by the biggest factor influencing our climate, we are expected to willingly provide the sanction of the victim to the tune of about $2000 per family of four per year for the rest of our lives. Uh ... no.

Unfortunately, some scientists are finding alternative facts:
      https://www.theguardian.com/environme...
They think that the Maunder Minimum will have no effect on anthropogenic global warming.

        A worthless propaganda article.

"The thousands of buoys that we have deployed after 2003 to measure the ocean temperature, have not registered any temperature rise."

This is just totally wrong, even if we ignore the rapid warming of the deep oceans (as is clear from a simple examination of the figure above). The ocean heat content data can be downloaded from the National Oceanographic Data Center here. The heating trend since 2003 in the upper 700 meters of oceans is equivalent to nearly 1 Hiroshima atomic bomb detonation per second (plus another 3 per second in the deep oceans). Both the shallow and deep oceans are accumulating a whole lot of heat, with no signs of slowing whatsoever. If anything, the heating of the oceans and the planet as a whole is accelerating.

The Pause lengthens again – just in time for Paris
No global warming at all for 18 years 9 months – a new record
        By Christopher Monckton of Brenchley
As the faithful gather around their capering shamans in Paris for the New Superstition’s annual festival of worship, the Pause lengthens yet again. One-third of Man’s entire influence on climate since the Industrial Revolution has occurred since February 1997. Yet the 225 months since then show no global warming at all (Fig. 1). With this month’s RSS temperature record, the Pause beats last month’s record and now stands at 18 years 9 months.

The National Data Buoy Center, NDBC, published an interactive map which shows locations of all buoys in the oceans. A total of about 1200 buoys exist. Many of them do not measure surface air temperature, so the actual temperature data base is smaller. Almost all of the buoys are in the Northern hemisphere and there is almost no temperature data below 20 degrees South latitude. It is my contention that the present day and historical temperature data sets are hopelessly inadequate to support the Climate Scientists ridiculous claims. There gross manipulation of this meager data set is not truly a science. Climate scientists all work for government money and are tainted by politics.
The objective of man-caused global warming is to help governments gain complete control over the energy sector.

There was some interesting work by Professor Valentina Zharkova (Northumbria University) where she has published a paper that she has analyzed the solar cycle and identified two components that come from different depths in the sun. These components have a different phases. Utilizing this, she has been able to model the variability of the 11 year cycle with a high degree of accuracy. She predicts a "Maunder Minimum" from 2020 to 2053.

She isn't actually against the global warming theory, she's just studying the sun. Predictably she has been under attack ever since.

Here's one site discussing it: https://www.ras.org.uk/news-and-press...

    And her paper: http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10....

Thank so much William Shipley, she and her colleagues are referred to often at the Adapt2030
Site. I will definitely take a lookToday , to speak out as a scientist about other factors that contribute the climate is blasphemy.. It is not a good idea to ignore the sun

"A total income loss of more than $20,000 for a family of four;"

    http://www.conservativenewsandviews.c...
Quoting calculations from the Heritage Institute

See recent post by our Temlakos
    --------------------------------------------------
As a result of the plan, one can expect that by 2035, there will be:

    An overall average shortfall of nearly 400,000 jobs;
    An average manufacturing shortfall of over 200,000 jobs;
    A total income loss of more than $20,000 for a family of four;
An aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) loss of over $2.5 trillion; and
Increases in household electricity expenditures between 13 percent and 20 percent.
    -----------------------------------------------------
Justified by computer models which we already know are wrong,
A futile attempt to reduce some global average temperature by a fraction of a degreeC in one hundred years.

I predict booming markets in snowmobiles... The Heritage Foundation predictions are based on the assumption "if this continues..." You have to make some assumptions, granted. But as with anthropogenic global warming itself, the assumptions drive the results. Here, too, the Heritage Foundation did not (could not) take into account the explosion in human genius caused by the Maunder Minimum. It could not account for new markets to serve the many new needs in the new, cooler environments.

And what happens to the "average" family (however defined) need not happen to you.

        I agree.
However, the decision we (governments) are faced with is to act, or not.

Should our decisions on action be driven by
fake science, lies, sloppy emotion appeals for saving the planet,
blackmail and intimidation of those who disagree,
for certain cost now running at $1.5 trillion pa, that has a severe downside
predicted by the Heritage model, the downside as MM correctly says can be
        ameliorated.
        Or, should they do nothing?
Or, better, cut government money going to looters and parasites who infest
education not just in humanities and social 'science, but in science and
        technology.

Human genius is better applied not to dealing with
government messes but to devising benefits - laissez faire.

Love to hear the looney left scientists weigh in on this issue. I'm sure that they are trying to tie this into man-made climate change as well. Speaking of which, the Russian and French scientific team discovered irrefutable proof that global warming PRECEDED a rise in CO2 every time over the past 60,000 years! Let's hear them blame that one on man-made emissions, etc.

The entire Global Warming issue is a contrived scam so that people pushing Solar power, wind trubines and Carbon Credits all can become billionaires all at the expense of Truth and integrity! That you can take to the bank!

One other thing that the people pushing "Green Power" can become billionaires on, is from OUR MONEY! (wealth redistribution, etc...)

For example, Elon Musk and others like him who use government power for personal gain and use the media to embarrass and shame people into irrationally buying his inferior, overpriced, government (looted taxpayer) funded products.
He even uses the name of a legitimate, honest genius, Tesla, as the moniker on his government supported rubbish. I saw a new Tesla while walking today with a card that claimed "zero emissions" where the license plate will go. My immediate thought was that I was the one with zero emissions. The Tesla just transfers the emissions to somewhere else while also expecting others to pay for the roads it is using (since government does not impose fuel taxes on the Tesla.) Tesla claims to be superior while looting others for its existence. Typical manipulative corporatocracy looter.

Yes when Trump rejected the ridiculous anti- industrial, Obama destroy USA Paris accord.
Musk quit as an advisor to the Administration
Well Elon don't let the Whitehouse door hit you on the ass on the way out.
Tesla said "it doesn't bother me that they steal my ideas it bothers me that they don't have any of their own ideas"

Propaganda or not, the little Ice age is fact. What is also fact is that we cannot predict what future events will be with 100% accuracy. This especially applies to objects we have only observed for just a few short centuries. Whether it's the earth or the sun, we don't know where or how these object will react. I remember the hysteria from the last planetary alignment in the 70's! Regardless of we pathetic insects on this rock, it will do as it wants, we should instead influence that which we can, our own local sphere of control. Where's the gultch when we need it!

"What is also fact is that we cannot predict what future events will be with 100% accuracy. "

To my knowledge humanity's accuracy predicting climate or climate change, has been zero at best.

Well, the coming ice age will change the opinions of people worried about global warming.

More importantly, the Maunder Minimums are associated with the Age of Reason.
"The longest minimum on record, the Maunder Minimum of 1645-1715, lasted an incredible 70 years. " (Here http://ossfoundation.us/projects/envi... ) From the original article cited above: "... during the second half of the 17th century. Almost no spots were seen on the Sun during this time, which coincided with Europe’s Little Ice Age."

We can deal with the weather easily enough. It is the "Re-enlightenment" that will be more important.

We also need to alert the free market that we will experience crop failures, (happening already) and we need alternative ways to grow our food. I do see a new trend in growing food indoors, in old factory buildings in the cities but it's just not enough going forward. Every country in the world will experience these shortages so we won't necessarily be able to depend on the global market place.

I agree that under this stress and for the same reasons some will go insane, others will arise to a higher state of awareness but we also must be aware, this time around might just be worse than the last time due to complicating factors like shield weakening and magnetic pole movements, not to mention, suspected, even some admitted evidence but otherwise unproven...Humanoid interference, (ie. geoengineering).

Don't forget to mention all the other timely "minimums" previously, the fact that these fields seem to be just fine upon the limb where we see them flair up and the electromagnetic influence of Jupiter and Saturn.

At least M. Penn was willing to look but as history shows, the magnetic fields will regain their strength when facing earth again after the grand solar minimum cycle ends and Jupiter and Saturn move from their present influential positions.
