"Sandis Kondrats, whose sculpture is inspired by the novel Atlas Shrugged, is a professional artist who worked with granite and marble in his native Latvia."
That's pretty cool. You know, I'd love to see someone sculpt ObamaCare in sand and see if anyone catches the subtle message as the sculpture slowly disappears back into formlessness. =)
it showed up just as we were firing the barbie up! no, tonight is a beef stew. The base is an oatmeal stout, beef, carrots, onion, mushrooms, zucchini, spices, and a a homemade country loaf with creamery butter. today was sashimi. fresh yellow tail, ginger, wasabi, pickled ginger-US Open. fun weekend
I did a quick search for Sandris Kondrats after watching the video. Found his name but couldn't read one word... I would love to see his work...and especially the one he was carving in the sand. WOW... thank you for this post.
This is gives me an idea. The kinders are forever digging in the dirt and building stuff in the area of the playground this is NOT the sand pile area (because the dirt there is more moist, because it's near the irrigation)... Today I'm going to make it into a contest and I'll take a pic of the best one. Pretty cool stuff that sand is. :)
I can suggest a movie for you to watch, if you would like to get a perspective on how that part of the world ..Latvia,Estonia, Lithuania etc views FREEDOM. They were all long under the arms the USSR. "The Other Dream Team" produced and directed by Marius Markevecius. It's a documentary about new found freedom in Lithuania told through the eyes of 4 or 5 basketball players who had been forced to play for Russia but refused after they were free to choose. You will laugh, cry and be uplifted. You won't be disappointed. It received a lot of honors at the usual film festivals.

Seems 'fitting'!
I would be interesting to talk to Kondrats and see how he sees the U.S., Latvia and Atlas Shrugged.
