A businessman’s success vs. a bureaucrat’s success
"A businessman’s success depends on his intelligence, his knowledge, his productive ability, his economic judgment - and on the voluntary agreement of all those he deals with: his customers, his suppliers, his employees, his creditors or investors. A bureaucrat’s success depends on his political pull." - Ayn Rand

- 2Posted by $ johnrobert2 12 years, 8 months agoA bureaucrat's success, to his/her mind, also depends on the span of control they in a given area. The more people or latitude in enforcement they control defines their place within the hierarchy. It's hard to think to think of a congressperson as a bureaucrat but they are. The entire purpose of their existence is to control committees, other congresspersons, AND their constituents. The other bureaucrats in the faceless bureaucracies are satisfied to do it anonymously. It is antithetical to a businessperson in the open marketplace.| Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink
- 1Posted by $ rockymountainpirate 12 years, 8 months agoI just included this quote in an email I sent to my 2 senators, both devoted democrats, to defund obamacare. I also included a quote from George Washington. I expect to get the usual many worded reply that says nothing, but this quote was very timely.| Mark as read | Best of... | Permalink
