Militant Left Getting Their Way as I Go Galt

Had an interesting conversation yesterday. I happened to be almost home at the end of a jog when a car pulled up. It was our family doctor. We have become good friends, and beer-drinking buddies. He quickly convinced me that a beer was just what I needed at the end of a jog so I stopped by his place (we're neighbors). He was bringing home some beer from a local brewpub that has gained the attention of the militants. Recently, the owner of the pub said on his facebook page something less than supportive of the women's march. I don't know the details. Well, now they are threatening to put him out of business, attack him, etc. I joked that if Doc and I walk in there we might get punched in the back of the head (ala Trump rally). Then, we started discussing how the left really is getting more aggressive...ultimately, how they are becoming more like...Nazis. We actually do fear entering some businesses, saying things publicly that we might have said a few years ago, etc. Sad thought. In that regard, I suppose the new, more threatening tactics are effective. I note this symbiotic relationship between slipping away and self-preservation while I slowly go Galt. Doc was very clear about the need to keep our mouths shut. We sat out on his porch enjoying a wonderful rye as the sun dropped low...enjoying the peace.

Washington state was very similar to your experience with Arizona and California. Hillary signs to the west of the Cascade crest...Trump signs to the east.

I think a Great Wall would be in order...

There is truth in the "old sayin`s", "be careful what you ask for" comes to mind.

I often feel more free to talk in South America (Colombia, Peru, Chile) than in my home state of Arizona for fear of retaliation by liberals. Others must feel intimidated, too, as even during the campaign I saw no Trump signs. In fact, the only signs I saw were local politicians. Anyone but Trump would have surrendered by now, in the mold of former GOP presidents. Let's hope, for all his faults, he does not cave and we end up with a Hillary of some sort.

Thank goodness the left hates guns. They will not always win the showdowns. Even when Soros organizes crowds for them.

I work as a high school math teacher in a very urban area. I am very open with my political opinions and have to defend them CONSTANTLY. The only reason that I suffer this abuse is that inevitably I pick up a few students here and there that see the light and I occasionally lessen the Left leanings of these brainwashed children. If I can save a few maybe I will make a difference in the future.

When I win the lotto (!), I'm going to open a brew pub and name it: "Unsafe Zone Brewery
    Screw You All"

Yeah, I've noticed that also with some skepticism. The media sets the agenda...

Claims that there has been a recent increase in bigotry or violence. If there has been, I think it's in the noise.

This strikes me as being like the claim that there has been a spike in bigotry-motivated crime since President Trump was elected. I do not believe these claims.

I'd love to see Iceland. Someday...

Yeah...given the players pushing this militant stuff I'm not anywhere near convinced it can be stopped, and that it must run its course.

When I retired from the military, I bartended at the local VFW. I saw the way my friends and neighbors acted when they drank and thought to myself that I did not want to be like that. But it actually started while I was still in the military and I was stationed in the Middle East where alcohol is prohibited, then went to Iceland where they are real strict on drinking and doing anything. I had a kid get arrested for drinking and riding a bike.As for everything else, yes, it is right out of Rules for Radicals. Yes, it would probably bring trouble. However, things are already falling apart and it is not something Trump is doing but what those that oppose Trump are doing along with BLM and all the Soros backed groups.

This is what we were talking about last night. I expressed how tempting it is to use my skill with words to set up a small, secret group of counter-activists. But, I was quickly reminded of the trouble that would bring. That's why I say they are getting their way. Perhaps this is straight out of Rules for Radicals. I'm sticking with my thoughts about just letting everything collapse while I sit peacefully away, enjoying a cold one. Good for your on quitting the booze if that's what was needed. Alcohol is not for everybody.

Open carry would probably have the effect needed, Abaco, but I would also rather have a good brew in peaceful surroundings than dealing with condescending, brainwashed, naive, ignorant socialist thugs.

Agree Abaco. The left is getting very militant. A Norway investment company just divested itself of the companies that are part of the DAPL because of the left wing divest project. The left is back to it's bombing, both figuratively and financially. The problem is not that we need to keep our mouths shut but that we need to be vocal about what is happening. I like the remark about enjoying the rye, enjoy one for me as I quit drinking over 30 years ago.
