This is Obama's recent executive order that includes the ability to grab, quarantine, and medically treat people without their consent. What do my fellow Objectivists think of that? Might that be too much power for government officials? Could such power be abused against political enemies? How might it help the bottom line of major contributors in DC? Does it make you feel safer? Don't read the ten points of the Nuremberg Code before you answer...(sarcasm)

Why an executive order? Can't congress be involved in stopping the spread of dangerous infectious diseases? Is this a partisan issue?
What if the govt. infected part of the population and then quarantined those targeted?

It's an interesting problem. If someone presents with ebola and tells you that they've got tickets to the football game they've been waiting for months to see, do you restrain them? When it comes to communicable diseases an individual's actions can become an active threat to those around them.
