Chief Justice Roberts Uses Obama's Words Against Him on Immigration Case

"Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. prodded the Obama administration Monday to explain President Obama’s immigration flip-flop, when Mr. Obama in 2014 reversed himself and decided he did, after all, have powers to grant a tentative amnesty to as many as 5 million illegal immigrants.

Mr. Obama had repeatedly denied he had that kind of power, then after the 2014 election, when Congress refused to act on his policies, the president claimed a do-over and said he did have the power."
I would surmise Obama thought he was now the Ruler of the land with nothing to prevent him from making law with the stroke of a pen or a phone call. Reality might be setting in now, but not too sure about that.

Ever since Robert's ruling on the ACA I have taken what falls from his mouth with a grain of salt. A very large grain of salt. As to Obama waffling, that's what he, and many of his predecessors have done.
Like the gal in a recent movie said with a pout, "We're bad guys, it's what we do."

The overlooked part about the amnesty to five million illegal immigrants by Obama is that apportionment to the House of Representatives is not by the number of citizens, but by the number of residents (including illegals). Thus states with sanctuary cities get to inflate their populations and get one or two House seats from those states that obey immigration law!

Could it be that John Roberts found his voice and his courage, knowing that Obama wouldn't be in the White House anymore, and Hillary would never get there?

The time for John Roberts to "find his voice" was precisely while Obama was in the White House, implementing Obamacare and its not-a-tax "mandate". Since Obama had no power to remove him, there was no excuse for Roberts to uphold the mandate as a "tax". Four other Supreme Court justices had no problem "finding their voice" when it was most needed. I hope Trump gets to appoint enough Supreme Court justices to make Robert's "voice" irrelevant.

I was extremely disappointed in Roberts in that pusillanimous ruling. I just pray that President Trump will install several originalist jurors who also have the courage of their convictions.

Even if reality is setting in it is too late for the republic and his tenure nearly done it doesn't much matter that he was stopped once in the thousands of times he violated the constitution.
